In less than a month, Sony Pictures’ Spider-Man: No Way Home arrives on the big screen with Tom Holland returning as the friendly neighborhood wall-crawler. As if the hype around the film wasn’t already high enough, the studio is now adding more promotional content online to increase interest. This time, the marketing for the highly-anticipated film comes in the form of an official account on TikTok for The Daily Bugle.

The few videos that have been posted on the account so far are all original content, created specifically to promote Spider-Man: No Way Home. In the past, Marvel Studios has used TikTok to promote other projects, but it has usually been shared footage from the film or series. However, the current TikTok content for No Way Home features Angourie Rice, who portrays the role of Daily Bugle intern Betty Brant, and J.K. Simmons, playing the iconic editor of the newspaper J. Jonah Jameson.

The two actors are seen as their Spider-Man: No Way Home characters, referring to their busy lives as journalists in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The first video has Brant introducing herself as the “newest intern for Daily Bugle,” and the person who will be managing their official TikTok account. She promises to bring audiences the “fair, balanced, and hard-hitting news” that they expect from the paper. Unfortunately, she finds out at the end of the video that she is, in fact, just an unpaid intern, ruining her dreams of landing her “first real job.”

The second video posted by The Daily Bugle’s TikTok account invites fans to participate in the fun. It follows a popular trend on TikTok of asking users to share their views on a particular topic, with the caption reading, “Tell us you hate Spider-Man without telling us you hate Spider-Man.” Fans can download the video and stitch in their own responses. However, Brant refuses to answer the question because “Peter Parker is [her] friend” and even saved her life. Simmons, on the other hand, isn’t afraid to refer to Spider-Man as “Spider-Menace.”

As part of the third video, Brant invites fans to join Daily Bugle as unpaid interns and share their Spider-Man sightings with the outlet. Her joyful speech takes a humorous turn when she refers to people sharing their “misguided opinions, vague rumors, and craziest conspiracy theories” related to Spider-Man: No Way Home.

Ever since the film was announced, social media has been overrun by fan theories, most of which are related to Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield arriving in the film as alternate versions of Spider-Man. It remains to be seen whether the theory will be correct, but for now, fans can continue to share them with The Daily Bugle.

Spider-Man: No Way Home premieres in theatres on December 17, 2021.
