Although Spider-Man: Miles Morales is selling in record numbers since its release last year, fans are still noticing new things in the original Spider-Man PlayStation exclusive that was released in 2018. In fact, Reddit user ThatJuhh has pointed out something interesting about the game's villain, Mr. Negative, that seems to have gone unnoticed until now.

Marvel's Spider-Man for the PlayStation 4 contained many Easter eggs that players were quick to discover, but it was also filled with nice little touches that many players might not have put together, like the drawing in one of Peter Parker's backpacks of Spider-Man saving a child's balloon, a reference to Tobey Maguire's Spider-Man 2. It is unclear, however, whether the Mr. Negative detail spotted by ThatJuhh is a polished detail or an outright mistake.

Basically, when Martin Li takes his villainous form and becomes Mr. Negative, his reflection is still that of the regular Martin Li. With players still waiting on news of the Spider-Man 2 game, the chance to see Martin Li's reflection and decide whether it's a purposeful detail for themselves might convince some to take the first Spider-Man game out for another swing.

While it's not unheard of for sometimes humorous game glitches and mistakes to make it into the final version of a title, Mr. Negative having a Martin Li reflection would be such a perfect touch for the character that, from a story perspective, it seems like it must have been intentional. However, as Redditor Quitsquirrel pointed out in their response to ThatJuhh's original post, a similar thing happens with the reflection of a cat in Miles Morale's backpack in Spider-Man: Miles Morales, and may just be a side effect of how the game's engine handles reflections.

Even after accepting that it may be a simple error on the part of the game devs, many fans are choosing to adapt Mr. Negative's Martin Li reflection into their personal headcanon because it fits the character so well. As for Mr. Negative himself, it's not certain whether the character will appear in any future Spider-Man games or not, but the character's actor, Stephen Oyoung, has kept busy in the meantime and will be appearing as Red Hood in Gotham Knights, an upcoming DC Comics game.

Mr. Negative's Martin Li reflection might be on purpose, or it might be a mistake. Either way, while fans comb Spider-Man: Miles Morales for the Stan Lee statue and other secrets, it proves that the original PS4 Spider-Man still has some undiscovered gems as well.

Spider-Man is available on the PlayStation 4 and Spider-Man Remastered is available on the PS5 for owners of Spider-Man: Miles Morales Ultimate Edition.
