Spider-Man: Miles Morales allows players to use the young wall-crawler’s unique abilities in a number of different combat situations. It also lets gamers help civilians with random problems, though one Spider-Man: Miles Morales fan captured a clip of the hero having an odd reaction to a citizen in peril.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales handles some of its side activities through the Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man app, a useful tool created by Miles’ best friend Ganke. Alongside exclusive side missions that see Miles assisting some of the citizens in New York, players can access random crimes through the app. From street shootouts to malfunctioning helicopters, there are some entertaining activities to complete throughout Spider-Man: Miles Morales’ open world. However, discussion about this app led to an odd comment from Miles in one fan’s playthrough.

The clip was posted by Reddit user and Spider-Man: Miles Morales fan Mariosonicpac. It starts with Miles falling from the sky, with the player letting him get low so that they can pull off a swing with maximum momentum. As Miles plummets toward the ground, Ganke phones in, letting him know that there is a hostage situation near Miles. With this being a life-or-death scenario, one would expect Miles to say something like “on my way,” wasting no time getting to the victim so that he can take out the criminal before it is too late.

However, this is not Miles’ response. After Ganke details the hostage situation, Spider-Man says “cool!” The way he says it is particularly funny, too, as he could not sound any happier that someone is in danger. While he may be excited to save the day and be a proper hero, it is far from what players would expect to hear. Obviously, this is not the intended response, as Miles only says “cool” because the player controlling him pulled off a series of aerial tricks on the way down. As such, he reacted right after Ganke had announced the crime.

Unsurprisingly, many got a laugh out of this clip, with several commenters quoting J. Jonah Jameson and calling Miles a menace. Others pointed out how the player seemingly swings the other way and does not help with the crime, making it seem like Miles does not care at all. With 1,800 upvotes, this odd occurrence has proven to be a big hit, though it is not the only time that fans have shown Spider-Man acting out of character. In the original game, a player recently captured a clip of Peter Parker killing some criminals, something he would normally never do.

With Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 not releasing until next year, fans will have plenty of time to replay the other games and capture entertaining clips like this. As for the unfortunate hostage in Mariosonicpac’s game, hopefully another hero was in the neighborhood.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
