Despite coming out less than half a year ago, Spider-Man: Miles Morales has already sold in incredible numbers. In fact, when game sales for every major console over the last 12 months are tallied up, Spider-Man: Miles Morales finds itself in the number five spot, ahead of a ton of major games that were available for the entire 12-month period.

The information comes courtesy of Mat Piscatella, the Executive Director & Video Game Industry Advisor for the market research company NPD Group. Piscatella shared the information on his Twitter feed in a flurry of tweets that also detailed the best-selling Nintendo Switch games, Xbox games, and PlayStation games over the last 12 months.

One graph tweeted by Piscatella shows all the sales numbers for games from every console stacked up against each other, with Spider-Man: Miles Morales coming in fifth place. The feat is particularly impressive considering the Spider-Man game is a PlayStation exclusive. Every game in the four spots ahead of Miles Morales, from the frequently updated Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War to Madden NFL 21, are cross-platform titles. On top of that, with the exception of Black Ops Cold War and Assassin's Creed: Valhalla (which both launched the same week as Miles Morales in November 2020) each of the games occupying the top four spots have been available for a much longer time than the web-slinging adventure game.

Piscatella also shared another graph that breaks down sales numbers for PlayStation consoles alone for the month of March, and the Spider-Man title holds its own on that list as well. In fact, Spider-Man: Miles Morales holds the number 2 spot for PlayStation sales for March, behind only Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Impressively, Miles Morales beat out other PlayStation exclusives like Ghost of Tsushima and the controversial The Last of Us Part 2 on both NPD Group's PlayStation exclusive list and the list that takes all major consoles into account.

On yet another list, this time for best selling Switch games for March, Capcom's much loved Monster Hunter: Rise takes the number one spot. It's also the only title not published by Nintendo to even make the list, with games like Super Mario 3D World and Animal Crossing: New Horizons filling up the remaining nine slots. The Xbox list is filled with mostly cross-platform titles like Call of Duty games and Mortal Kombat 11, with the most interesting detail being that Marvel's Avengers grabbed the number 9 spot for Xbox sales in March.

As the PlayStation 5 continues to sell out almost immediately whenever any store gets new stock, and considering Spider-Man: Miles Morales is one of the games PlayStation fans are still most excited about, sales of the super hero game will likely continue on its current trajectory for quite some time. Plus, the Marvel Cinematic Universe's third Spider-Man film is coming out in December this year, when more consumers will have a PlayStation 5 of their own, which is a nice set of circumstances that can only aid sales of the Miles Morales video game.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
