The PlayStation 5 was back in stock, if only for a few moments, this week in the United Kingdom, which resulted in improved sales for PS5 titles across the board. This week's physical box sales are in for the UK, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales spiked up on leaderboard. However, last week's number one best-selling game in the UKSuper Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury, maintained its hold on the top spot again.

The out-of-stock nature of Sony and Microsoft's next-gen consoles has been well-reported. In fact, US President Joe Biden signed an order to investigate PS5 and Xbox Series X/S part shortages in hopes of stabilizing the economy. However, the UK saw a re-stock in PS5 consoles last week, and according to GamesIndustry.biz PS5 game sales rose 64 percent week-over-week.

For the week ending on February 27, 2021, Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury was the most sold physical game for the third week in a row, but it was a close call. Nintendo's platformer dropped in sales by 38 percent and only took the number one spot by 1,000 copies. Meanwhile, Spider-Man: Miles Morales sales jumped by up 172 percent compared to the previous week; likely benefiting from the PS5 consoles that were finally available on the market.

Another PS5 title that showed massive movement (though not enough to reach the top 10) was the Demon's Souls Remake. The game moved up to 21st place, not even in the top 40 last week, after a 123 percent increase in sales. Another game that seems to have benefitted is The Last of Us: Part 2. After not being in the top 40 at all, the game skyrocketed up to number three after a 3992 percent sales spike. While the game is a PS4 title, it is also playable on the PS5.

The rest of the list is a mix of titles and would be hard to decipher if the PS5 restock made an impact. Persona 5 Strikers is a game on both the PS4 and Switch, and it debuted this past week at the fifth spot. Grand Theft Auto 5 and Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War both dropped slightly, but that may be because of the rise of those PS5 games.

Overall, this week's list is a bit more diverse than the last couple of weeks. The Nintendo Switch only has three exclusives this week instead of four or five the previous two weeks, for example. The PS5 restock certainly seems to have helped sales overall, and Spider-Man: Miles Morales was a big beneficiary of that. It likely helps that the game also has a budget price after consumers may have just dumped hundreds into a new piece of tech.

Spider-Man: Miles Morales is available now on PS4 and PS5.
