Miles Morales is a fairly new character in the Marvel universe. He is not the first iteration of the Spider-Man character, but he has certainly become beloved and popular enough to get his own animated film, and now, a video game with him at the forefront.

Miles Morales' run in the comic books resonated with fans so much and so quickly that he is the main character of a PS5 launch title. Spider-Man: Miles Morales does a lot to respect the source material, but it also takes its own artistic liberties to create its unique take on popular characters.

10 Rio Morales & Jefferson Davis

Rio Morales

Rio Morales & Jefferson Davis are Miles' loving parents. Both of them were present in the previous game, but the latter unfortunately died in a bombing incident involving the Inner Demons. Rio has since raised Miles on her own and became loved enough in her city to become a city councilor.

In the comics, it wasn't Jefferson who passed away but Rio. Prior to her passing, Rio actually knew of Miles' Spider-Man persona and bid him to tell his father about it, who was initially oblivious to the matter. When Rio passed away, it prompted Miles to shelf his costume for a year as her passing was too hard for him to bear.

9 The Tinkerer

You're not a superhero, it seems, if you don't have a villain in your rogues gallery that was once your friend or a family member. Miles Morales had Phin Mason to complete this pre-requisite. Phin Mason is Miles' high school best friend, who later became a villain known as the Tinkerer.

Phin Mason as Tinkerer is a concept solely unique to this game. In the comics, the Tinkerer's real name was Phineas Mason. Phineas Mason was a middle-aged man who was proficient in innovation and engineering. He became obsessed with superhumans, with Spider-Man in particular, and vowed to destroy him using his inventions.

8 The Prowler

Miles Morales' uncle Aaron Davis is the man behind the Prowler mask. Aaron Davis has been committed to the life of crime long before his nephew donned a superhero costume. While he is more sympathetic and caring in the game, there was a little more manipulation and malice in the pair's relationship in the comics.

It was actually Aaron Davis who unknowingly carried the genetically enhanced spider that ended up biting Miles, giving him his powers. When Aaron realized the new Spider-Man was his nephew, he used this to his advantage to manipulate and blackmail him. He later became more restrained and caring, even considered giving up the Prowler persona entirely.

7 Simon Krieger

Simon Krieger

Simon Krieger, the face of Roxxon in this game, is arguably the main villain of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. It was his decisions and actions that led to the creation of the Tinkerer and most of the conflicts that are happening in Harlem.

The Simon Krieger character in the comics is a little more different and one of his actions has an even bigger impact on the Marvel universe as a whole. When he was the vice president of Roxxon, he had Howard and Maria Stark, Tony Stark's parents, assassinated in an attempt of taking over Stark Industries.

6 Rick Mason

Rick Mason from Spider-Man: Miles Morales

Rick Mason was the older brother of Phin Mason and a mentor figure to Miles Morales. He was known to be incredibly intelligent and caring. He eventually landed a position in Roxxon where he created Nuform.

Rick Mason's comic book counterpart is very different from the one in the game. Comic book Rick Mason is the son of Phineas Mason, also known as Tinkerer. He was a mercenary who came to be known as The Agent, specializing in taking down superhumans.

5 Danika Hart

Spider-Man Miles Morales

J. Jonah Jameson's Just The Facts show dominated the airwaves in Spider-Man's world. That is until Danika Hart came along. Danika Hart is the creator and host of a new show called The Danikast. She is more positive and supportive of Spider-Man whereas Jonah is extremely critical of him, to the point of being malicious.

Danika Hart in the comics is not so different from the one in the game. In the comics, Danika Hart gained major attention when she announced that the new Spider-Man was a kid of color. She also ended up dating Ganke Lee.

4 Ganke Lee

Miles needs Ganke Lee like New York needs Spider-Man. Ganke Lee is Miles' best friend and most trusted confidante. Not only does he give Miles his unrelenting support, but he also aids his superhero endeavors by providing intel, assistance, and more. He even designed the Spider app.

In the comics, Ganke Lee also acted as Miles' computer guy. He was the first one to realize that Miles' power resembled that of Spider-Man's, but he initially believed Miles' powers were due to him having the X-Gene.

3 Nuform

black panther's design from civil war movie

Even though the Nuform material is not a character, it is the plot device that drives the story of Spider-Man: Miles Morales. In the game, Nuform was created by Rick Mason, Phin's older brother, while working for Roxxon. The material was a success at first, but Rick later found out it was harmful and lethal towards humans, which Roxxon just swept under the carpet. A failed attempt to sabotage Roxxon and prevent them from creating more Nuform led to Rick Mason's death.

The Nuform material in the comics is not entirely similar to the one in-game. In the Vibranium Vendetta storyline, Roxxon created an unstable form of Vibranium which turns into Anti-Metal, which they called Nuform.

2 The Osborns

Harry Osborn Spider-Man video game

The Osborn family is a prominent one in the Spider-Man mythology. Norman Osborn ended up being one of Spider-Man's longest-running nemesis and his son Harry, who was Peter's best friend, would fall in and out of that line.

The Osborn characters in the game are not so far off from the one in the comics. Norman is a powerful figure and Harry, though not actually present and encountered with, was a decent guy who had nothing but love towards Peter. Instead of donning the Green Goblin costume, Norman is the city's mayor. Harry, on the other hand, seems to be getting to know the venom symbiote quite well.

1 Miles And Peter

miles and peter spider-man: miles morales

Peter Parker used to be the sole friendly neighborhood Spider-Man in New York. Now, thanks to Miles' newfound powers, there are finally two of them. Peter acted as Miles' mentor, training him before trusting him to handle New York while he leaves the city for a while.

In the comics, Miles and Peter, the one everyone knows of, don't actually share the same universe. Miles' story was set in an alternate universe where the Spider-Man in their world died. Having gained the same powers a few weeks prior, Miles decided he'd step on the role and become New York's new Spider-Man. It wasn't until a later multiverse event when Miles' universe became merged with Peter's, thus giving New York both Spider-Men at once.
