Geek culture has rapidly grown to mainstream popularity in the last few decades, in large part thanks to things like the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Julian Bass shared his appreciation for some of his favorite geek icons in a Tik-Tok that recently went viral, asking fans to retweet the video until "Disney calls."

The video quickly became popular enough to garner a response from Disney Executive Chairman Bob Iger, who said, "The World's gonna know your name!!!" in response to Bass' tweet. Since then, fans have the video have called for Bass to play as Miles Morales in a future Spider-Man movie, though it isn't clear if that will actually come to fruition.

Iger isn't the only person to have replied to Bass' video, either. Other celebrities, including James Gunn and Zach Braff, have voiced their support for Bass, among others. Production is stalled on many projects currently, but it's possible Bass' video opened many new doors for the prospective actor.

It certainly wouldn't be the strangest thing to have ever happened. Other actors have found mainstream success without traditional auditions, and it's something that will likely become more common thanks to the rise of the internet.

Bass has since given interviews about the experience, in one claiming that he now feels as though he's in the running to potentially be cast as Miles Morales' Spider-Man. The movie rights for Spider-Man are notoriously complicated between Sony and Marvel, so it's unclear if that will happen, but it would be cool to see. Sony has replied to the video on Twitter, so anything is possible.
