Although there are still six months to go until Spider-Man: No Way Home debuts in theatres, the highly-anticipated film is generating an overwhelming amount of buzz among excited fans. Ever since Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced the project three years ago, several fan theories have flooded the internet and all of them are seemingly centered around the possibility of the Spider-Verse finally coming to the MCU.

Adding to the speculation is a recently leaked teaser that seems to hint at No Way Home possibly featuring the Marvel/Sony Spider-Man crossovers that fans have long been waiting for. The short clip, which was tweeted and then immediately deleted by Sony Pictures Argentina, showed an image of the No Way Home logo mysteriously glitching into different font styles. Fans believe that the transitions could be a nod to multiple versions of Spider-Man, and thus the Spider-Verse.

What makes the leak even more convincing is the fact that the logo glitch is the same gimmick that Sony used to market Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The animated film, which went on to win an Academy Award in 2018, was the first Spider-Man title to introduce the Spider-Verse concept on film. It featured Shameik Moore's Miles Morales teaming up with Spider-Man characters like Jake Johnson's Peter Parker and Hailee Steinfeld's Gwen Stacy from alternate timelines.

Currently, No Way Home appears to be setting up its own Spider-Verse, with several actors from previous Spider-Man titles confirmed to return to the big screen. Alfred Molina's Doctor Octopus, Jamie Foxx's Electro, and even J.K. Simmons' J. Jonah Jameson will reprise their roles in the upcoming threequel. However, the bigger question is whether or not Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be coming back as their respective Peter Parkers alongside Tom Holland's version of the web-slinger. Obviously, the Spider-Verse is contingent on the three Spider-Man characters joining forces. Given the aforementioned roster of villains that are set to appear, it would only make sense for them to work together against the pending threats considering their history with the baddies.

Garfield has denied the Spider-Man 3 rumors in the past, but his statement have not yet been made official by the studios, so fans are still clinging to the hope that the crossovers could still happen. Besides, Holland did say that No Way Home is the "most ambitious standalone superhero movie ever made," so there's always a chance that Marvel Studios and Sony actually do have plans to surprise viewers with a live-action version of the Spider-Verse.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is set for theatrical release on December 17, 2021.
