In the past several weeks, there have been several exciting casting announcements about the next Spider-man movie. In light of these announcements, digital artist Yadvender Singh Rana created a poster depicting a face-off between the film's heroes and villain Doc Ock.

Currently in production, the next Spider-man film will have Tom Holland returning as Peter Parker after the shock ending of Spider-man: Far From Home. Previous Spider-mans Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire will also reportedly be making appearances in the film. The fanmade poster depicts the three Spider-Men battling Alfred Molina's Doc Ock from the Tobey Maguire films, who has been confirmed to be returning to the Spider-man universe. The poster is inspired by a scene from 2004's Spider-man 2.

The poster also features Charlie Cox's Daredevil from the Netflix series, Daredevil. Many fans were overjoyed to hear rumours that he too would be appearing in Spider-man 3 following the cancellation of Daredevil. While this appearance has yet to be confirmed, it would be amazing for him to fight alongside Spider-man, whether it be Tom Holland's, or alongside all three as this poster imagines.

Several other characters from both the MCU and previous Spider-man continuities have been confirmed or rumored to be making appearances in Spider-man 3. Jamie Foxx's Electro, from The Amazing Spider-man 2 will also be in the movie, as well as Kirsten Dunst as Mary-Jane Watson from Tobey Maguire's Spider-man movies. Benedict Cumberbatch will be appearing as the MCU's Doctor Strange, who Peter Parker met in the Avengers films.

There have been mixed reactions to these casting announcements. Some fans are excited to see returns of characters they loved from other Spider-man franchises. Many are excited about the possibility of Spider-man 3 involving some kind of Spider-man multiverse, especially after the success of 2018's Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse.

On the other hand, Spider-man: Into the Spider-verse was beloved by both critics and audiences, meaning any version of the multi-verse done now would be held up against it. Additionally, many worry that the number of characters could weigh the movie down, or take away from Tom Holland's Peter Parker and his arc, which promises to be very interesting after the end of Spider-man: Far From Home. For now, with production and story being as locked down for Spider-man 3 as it is for every Marvel movie, fans can only speculate and use their imaginations.

Spider-man 3 is currently in development.
