Marvel's Spider-Man 2 briefly appeared on the PlayStation Store before getting removed, leading some users to believe that an announcement could be coming soon. Marvel's Spider-Man 2 was officially announced at the PlayStation Showcase event in 2021, but Sony has not shown any other trailers since then.

Additionally, the original video only teased the game as opposed to being a full gameplay reveal. Developer Insomniac Games is yet to share many concrete details on Marvel's Spider-Man 2, but it did confirm Venom as one of its villains. As fans continue to wait for more information, Marvel's Spider-Man 2 surprisingly appeared on the PlayStation Store before getting removed.

The PlayStation Store page for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 briefly went live as gamers in the UK were able to add it to their wish lists. It did not reveal anything new about Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as Sony had only uploaded previously released screenshots. Some fans started speculating that a new trailer is coming soon, but the store page has since been removed. Sony is set to release a new trailer for Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse on December 13, so a Marvel's Spider-Man 2 announcement may accompany it, though that's just speculation at this time.

Despite the lack of news, Insomniac Games has confirmed that Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is still scheduled to launch in 2023. Some fans expressed their belief that the game could be delayed as Sony has yet to showcase its gameplay, but it seems like Marvel's Spider-Man 2 is on track to meet its promised date. Insomniac Games also expressed that showing games time and effort, so it looks like fans will get to see more of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 whenever the development team is ready to showcase it.

A new trailer for Marvel's Spider-Man 2 would have potentially debuted at a PlayStation Showcase event, but Sony did not host one in 2022. PlayStation released several State of Play presentations throughout the year, with some of them focused on individual titles like Hogwarts Legacy and Gran Turismo 7. As opposed to the previous State of Play events, these showcases included more noteworthy and highly anticipated games such as Tekken 8, Street Fighter 6, Final Fantasy 16, and God of War Ragnarok.

One rumor even suggested that Sony canceled this year’s PlayStation Showcase due to the ongoing investigation into Microsoft's acquisition of Activision Blizzard. The FTC recently confirmed that it’s suing to block Microsoft's attempt to acquire Activision Blizzard, so it’s unclear if this deal will cross the finish line.

Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is scheduled to release in 2023 on PS5.
