Sometimes a game comes out, and it is a minefield for glitch hunters for years to come. That game is The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and since the title's 2017 release, gamers have been combing every inch of Hyrule desperately looking for something to find out of bounds. Random items and treasure chests have been discovered all over the map, but one mysterious shock arrow has been just out of reach for many players since April 2021. Now, one speedrunner and glitch hunter has managed to snag said arrow in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild.
Luke Steelman, who goes by "LegendofLinkk" online says this particular shock arrow was first discovered near the Daqo Chisay Shrine in Gerudo Town. The arrow is perched so impossibly high in the sky that many have tried to perform a "moon jump" to try and reach it. This "moon jump," for the uninitiated, is a horse glitch that propels Link towards the sky; unfortunately, this glitch proved to be inconsistent and couldn't get players close to the arrow. Steelman then tried to use a glitch involving a Guardian Stalker, that had it act as a platform that was able to push through the developer's invisible barriers, but it proved fruitless as it would take too much time to gain the 2000m of altitude necessary to achieve it.
To finally access the shock arrow, Steelman uses a combination of glitches: first, he uses the "Apparatus glitch" (essentially making Link invincible with the Death Mountain status effect) and uses the "Moon Jump" glitch before teleporting to the Daqo Chisay Shrine. From there, Steelman shield-surfed to a pile of rocks to the shrine's left, and proceeded to perform infinite jumps while taking no damage, thanks to the immunity glitch.
He jumps for minutes on end using a Sheikah Slate and shock arrows to show him how close by the one in the air is, finally using some bombs to get him the rest of the way to the arrow. He actually surpassed the arrow and then slowly descended to obtaining the arrow and victory.
The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild community has been performing stunts such as the one Steelman pulled for years, but this is definitely one of the more impressive ones. Just the knowledge of the game's systems and glitches alone is insane and shows how far some players will go to claim out-of-bounds items. No doubt there are even more items waiting to be found by daring glitch hunters.
