Back in 2014, an announcement was made about Lebron James being the main character of Space Jam 2. Lebron James is a three-time NBA champion and seemed like a good choice to replace Michael Jordan in the franchise. Since then, rumors have flown around about who will join Lebron and where to plot will lead. While some questions remain unanswered, the official title of the movie has been announced on Lebron James' Instagram.

Lebron James is rumored to be joined by NBA stars Anthony Davis, Damian Lilliard, and Klay Thompson, as well as WNBA stars Diana Taurasi and Nneka Ogwumike. Lebron's son, "Bronny" is also rumored to make an appearance along with actors Don Cheadle and Steve Harvey.

Space Jam 2 will be official titled Space Jam: A New Legacy. The movie is slated to be released in 2021, however, the coronavirus pandemic may lead to a delay. Because rumors about the movie have been speculated since 2014, many wonder if Lebron's Instagram is an official announcement of the movie title. However, the announcement was also re-posted on the movie's official Twitter.

Lebron has been a subject of conversations drawing comparisons between him and Michael Jordan. Jordan's documentary, The Last Dance, is available on ESPN and has sparked the greatest-of-all-time debate. With James taking over the Space Jam sequel, even more comparisons will be made between the two.

Space Jam: A New Legacy is scheduled to release July 16, 2021.
