As implied by the title South Park: The Fractured But Whole, the forthcoming role-playing game from Ubisoft based on the popular animated television show on Comedy Central is more than just a silly pun, as it also serves as a means to reflect the overarching narrative of the title's plot. In order to fully explicate this, the publisher and developer has now released two new trailers for the RPG detailing the different factions fans can choose to join.

As seen below in the trailers for South Park: The Fractured But Whole, players will be able to choose from the two separate groups of Eric Cartman's superhero set known as Coon and Friends or Kenny McCormick's justice-dishing division Mysterion and The Freedom Pals. In Cartman's clique, players can align themselves with the likes of Kyle, Clyde, Scott, and Jimmy, while Kenny's group consists of Stan, Token, Timmy, and Tweak.

With South Park: The Fractured But Whole allowing players to join up with a faction of their choosing, this suggests that the role-playing game will have branching story paths that will likely converge on one universal ending, which should offer added replayability. Not to mention, it will give fans a chance to see all of the different characters' abilities in the game as they team up with different heroes for combat.

Of course, the potential for varying story branches is a somewhat conventional feature that most gamers will be familiar with by now, so since it's a South Park title, the release will certainly have other in-game assets that keep players on their toes thanks to the series' razor sharp satire. For instance, The Fractured But Whole will implement a difficulty slider that gets harder based on a darker skin color for the protagonist.

Taking all of this into consideration, it seems as if South Park: The Fractured But Whole is set to provide a story that's just as hilarious, if not more so than its predecessor The Stick of Truth, while also offering fresh gameplay features and mechanics. With these elements and more in store come October, it's no wonder why South Park: The Fractured But Whole is being considered as one of the most highly anticipated games of 2017.

South Park: The Fractured But Whole is currently scheduled to release on October 17, 2017 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
