It's usually never a good idea to believe developers who claim that a particular game is "what fans have been waiting for." But in the case of South Park: The Stick of Truth, those claims actually seem to ring true - granted, given the amount of failures under the franchise's name, the bar wasn't set too high.

Now we know that The Stick of Truth will be arriving this December, and bringing a limited edition with it. If there were any doubts that Trey Parker and Matt Stone were giving this game their all, the new story trailer should silence them. Calling on Underpants Gnomes, Mr. Hanky, Canadians and even Professor Chaos himself, it's hard to think of any fan-favorite South Park character that won't be making a cameo in one way or another.

It didn't take long for the marketing to prove that the developers at Obsidian weren't pulling any punches, sticking with the notoriously irreverent and politically incorrect tone of the TV series. That approach apparently gained fans quickly, since the development survived the fall of THQ, and Ubisoft seems to be giving Parker and Stone free reign - a point proven in this story trailer.

Fans didn't need to hear much beyond the fact that the game looks and feels like one long episode, but with the trailer promising one of the most epic and comprehensive adventures through everything South Park, December can't come soon enough.

That fan enthusiasm is going to be counted on to sell the limited number of Grand Wizard Editions of the game, bringing more than a few mementos that will not only be attractive to fans, but help commemorate what already looks to be a surprisingly good game. Besides a copy of the game, the Grand Wizard Edition includes:

  • Grand Wizard Kidrobot Cartman Figure - Own the Grand Wizard Cartman and his stick of authority with this six-inch replica figure from Kidrobot. The Grand Wizard Cartman figure is not available in stores and can only be found in the Grand Wizard Edition.
  • Kingdom of South Park Map - The entire town of South Park has been mapped for the first time in South Park history.
  • The Stick of Truth Ultimate Fellowship Pack - Unlock the ultimate fellowship with the one pack to rule them all! Choose your class and pick your perk with four exclusive Stick of Truth costumes that come equipped with special abilities. Suit up as the Necromancer Sorcerer to increase your fire damage, earn extra gold by equipping the Rogue Assassin outfit, deal extra weapon damage with the Ranger Elf costume, or raise your defence with the Holy Defender outfit. The choice is yours, New Kid.

Will you be picking up a special edition of the game? Or have you yet to see a specific cameo that will finally convince you that The Stick of Truth is "the definitive South Park experience"? Sound off in the comments.
