It took a while, but South Park is back for its twenty-sixth season, and come Wednesday, Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny will be tackling Kanye West's endless controversies in an episode titled “Cupid Ye,” whose first preview is not holding back.

Although 2022 saw the release of South Park season 25 and the two Paramount Plus films, South Park The Streaming Wars parts 1 and 2, this was a short chapter in the show’s history, only being 6 episodes long. Considering season 24 consisted of the pandemic and COVID-themed specials, South Park's last full season came in 2019, so fans of the series are probably excited about this latest teaser.

In a brief 15-second video uploaded to the South Park accounts on most platforms, Clyde and Scott Malkinson approach Kyle with some inquiries about West's most infamous conspiracy theory. Yes, those antisemitic rants that got the rapper banned from almost every social media site and saw him lose his most lucrative marketing partnerships. However, despite Kyle's justified outrage, it seems like the boys running off believing Jewish people (South Park's broken RPG class) do run Hollywood will be the spark that fuels the show's satire in this season premiere.

The short teaser does not guarantee that Ye's likeness will be used on the show, nor if West is directly referenced during the episode. However, the joke does point to the series of antisemitic comments West made in late 2022. Longtime South Park fans will know that this wouldn’t be Kanye's first appearance in the series, as he was turned into the main attraction in 2009’s episode "Fishsticks" (season 13).

On that occasion, West had been depicted as a self-absorbed and egotistical artist that couldn’t even understand a silly joke. Though not much has changed regarding his personality, the rapper’s mental health issues were unknown at the time. South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are not known for pulling their punches, so South Park is bound to have its share of fun at West's expense after his most recent outbursts saw him express admiration for Adolf Hitler and identify a Nazi before getting married a second time to a Yeezy brand employee.

West's rants became so inflammatory that he proved too wild for known conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, as it was an InfoWars appearance ushered in his last few days on social media. Depending on how well this episode does, maybe some Ye jokes could make it into the new upcoming South Park game.

South Park season 26 will premiere on February 10, 2023, on Comedy Central.
