Add another horror game coming to PlayStation 5, as In Sound Mind has now officially been announced for the next-generation console. The PS5 confirmation came via the Youtube description of In Sound Mind's newest trailer, released as part of the PC Gaming Show 2020 presentation.  While In Sound Mind is certainly worth looking forward to, the psychological horror game still needs some time in development. The game is planned to release some time in 2021.

In Sound Mind remains a mysterious project, in many ways. Players will awaken in a mysterious and terrifying building, where it seems like corridors shift and come to life. Exploring this building reveals dark secrets, victims of a mysterious experimental chemical, and dark visions that blend the imaginary with reality. The one grounding agent is a cat named Tonia, but clearly there's more to Tonia than meets the eye, as well.

Gameplay in In Sound Mind is experienced through a first-person lens, as is increasingly common with modern horror games. Players will strive to solve unique puzzles while being hunted by all manner of monsters. But In Sound Mind also features combat, with players utilizing a variety of weapons against their nightmares. There are even boss fights for players to take on, so long as they can overcome their fears.

The horror game is being developed by studio We Create Stuff, best known for making roughshod indie horror mods and browser games. Nightmare House 2 is perhaps their best-known, cult classic horror game, at least until now. In Sound Mind is certainly a step up in difficulty for the team, but it's also certainly looking like a whole lot of fun.

For those interested in finding out more about In Sound Mind, We Create Stuff has been kind enough to put out a demo alongside today's announcement. In can be downloaded and played on Steam right now.

In Sound Mind joins a growing list of interesting horror games confirmed for the PS5. Thursday's PS5 event saw the announcement of Resident Evil 8, for example, as well as a mysterious horror game named Pragmata from Capcom. There's also the previously announced Ghostwire Tokyo and Quantum Error, among others. Horror is definitely going to be a part of the next generation of consoles.

In Sound Mind releases in 2021 on PC and PS5.
