Closing out the incredible Square Enix showcase is the world premier of Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin. Made by Team Ninja (think Nioh), this appears to be a soulslike take on the iconic Final Fantasy franchise, a loose retelling of the original game's story. There's a lot to unpack in this new trailer, but one thing that was impossible for fans to miss was its brutal nature. Fans have heard rumors about this upcoming title, but now they finally know it's real. What's more, they even got a fairly in depth look at the world, tone, and style of the game, as well as some really exciting news.

Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin is coming sometime in 2022, but excited fans won't have to wait long to give it a try. A demo will be releasing soon for players on PS5, although the full game will release on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. While this does mean that those that aren't lucky enough to have their own PS5 just yet will have to wait to try the game for themselves, at the very least there will be an influx of gameplay videos online once the demo releases.

The story seems simple enough, as the four Warriors of Light from the prophecy enter the Shrine of Chaos. As the protagonist tells viewers multiple times, he's here to kill Chaos, and all he cares about is killing Chaos. His companions seem a bit more relaxed about the situation, but each bring their own skills to the table. The main protagonist appears to use a large greatsword in the trailer, but he is also shown wielding a polearm and magic at other points.

He also has two partners with him. One with pinkish hair is shown dual wielding daggers, while the other instead looks to fight with hand to hand combat. It's possible that these characters will be able to change to different weapon types as well. There are still a lot of unanswered questions, but with any luck, more details about Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin will come to light soon. Until then fans should keep an eye out for the upcoming demo. The game feature many iconic Final Fantasy monsters, spells, and enemies, so it will surely be a nostalgic trip through a dark world.
