Earlier this month, Soulja Boy made headlines when he began selling his own games console. Although Soulja Boy and his SouljaGame Handheld were widely mocked by gamers online, the "Crank That" rapper is claiming that his console venture has been so successful that it warrants the release of even more gaming hardware.
In a series of tweets, Soulja Boy informed his 5.25 million Twitter follows that the SouljaGame Fuze had gone on sale. Like the product description of the SouljaGame Handheld, the listing for the SouljaGame Fuze is baffling. The promotional image for the wireless controller (which looks suspiciously like the Xbox One controller) says that it allows players to "get rid of the shackles of the thread," adding that its "smart design [will] unite the many crystal technology."
The list of games, meanwhile, states that it offers "the introduction of paragraph 76 games, starting 20 games shock." The list of "content partners" also mentions Ubisoft, 505 Games, Codemasters, and Deep Silver though it's unclear which games from these companies are available on the SouljaGame Fuze.
Again, just like the SouljaGame Handheld, it's easy to see that the SouljaGame Fuze is just a dropshipping effort. The product description mentions Chinese manufacturer "Cdragon" and indeed, a simple Google image search brings up reports of a knock-off PS4/Xbox One console from China called the Cdragon FUZE.
The Cdragon FUZE sells on dropshipping platforms like Aliexpress for $319.99. Soulja Boy, on the other hand, is selling the device for $399.99 which is down from $639.98. Considering that the real Xbox One and PS4 are available for $300 and under, it's unclear how successful Soula Boy's new product will be.
Though, if the SouljaGame Fuze doesn't prove to be a success, perhaps the Retro SouljaBoy Mini handheld console will turn out to be a bigger hit. It comes with an 8GB microSD card and includes 508 games, one of which will let players "unlock cool choppers," according to a promotional image. The console sells for $69.99 down from the normal price of $99.99, according to SouljaBoy's website. On Aliexpress, the RetroMini can be purchased for $32.29 including a 16GB microSD card, so that's one heck of a markup.
In the replies to Soulja Boy's tweets, gamers are poking more fun at the rapper and his business ventures. But it seems as though he's unlikely to step back from the games business any time soon, having also announced plans to get into eSports as well.
