For months, SoulCalibur 6 players have been wondering and speculating who would be added to the game to round out Season 2’s lineup of DLC characters following the return of Setsuka. Now they know, because Bandai Namco has revealed that this week will see the reintroduction of one of the series’ original fighters, Hwang Seong-gyeong.

It’s been fifteen years since Hwang, who was introduced in the very first Soul game, 1995’s Soul Edge, was last playable in SoulCalibur 3, but with SoulCalibur 6’s thirteenth DLC pack, fans will finally be able to take him for a spin starting this Wednesday, December 2. This time around, Hwang will come armed with talismans he can use for both offensive and defensive purposes in addition to his signature swords and kicks, all while sporting a brand new and darker look.

Hwang will join Setsuka, Hilde, and Haohmaru from the Samurai Showdown series to complete Season 2’s DLC roster, but that won’t be all that players will have to look forward to. Bandai Namco will also release SoulCalibur 6’s fourteenth DLC pack on Wednesday, which will add a new Tekken-themed Character Creation set. Additionally, players will also be treated to a new stage called Motien Pass Ruins, Seong Mi-na's Classic Costume, and new playable episodes featuring Mitsurugi and NIghtmare.

With Season 2 about to receive it’s last round of content, fans will start wondering if SoulCalibur 6 will get a Season 3. It’s not likely, since Hwang’s reveal trailer only lists 14 DLC packs for the game in total. Granted, Bandai Namco hasn’t explicitly stated its plans for the game going forward, but it’s safe to assume that, after two years of post-launch support, the company may be ready to move on to other projects. Fans will just have to wait and see.

SoulCalibur 6 is available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
