Fans of the acclaimed Witcher franchise have been whipped into a frenzy over the past couple of weeks as CD Projekt RED has continued to fuel the fires of speculation regarding what was next for Geralt of Rivia. While signs continued to point to the character guest starring in another game, many fans were holding out hope for a new game or even another DLC announcement for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. After all the teases, fans finally got the answer they were looking for as Geralt is joining the Soulcalibur 6 roster.

In a joint announcement from CD Projekt RED and Bandai Namco, Geralt of Rivia was revealed to be joining the expansive cast of characters within Soulcalibur 6. Players will also be able to fight in a special stage set in Kaer Morhen, the home base for the School of the Wolf. The map also features the iconic Hunt or be Hunted composition from The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. The man behind Geralt's iconic voice, Doug Cockle, is also confirmed to reprise the role.

The reveal was also accompanied by a trailer showing the man known as White Wolf in action for the first time as well as his home stage. Staying true to form, Geralt utilizes a mixture of styles including sword combat and ability-enhancing potions. Fans of the series can see some Witcher signs being used as well including the fire move Igni and Axii.

With the game due for release later this year, there's still plenty of roster spots that need to be filled. Fan favorites like Mitsurugi, Ivy, and others have already been announced, though with a variety of games to pull from, there's plenty more than fans want to see.

One thing that isn't clear at the moment is if Geralt is the only guest character. The series has a tradition of featuring platform specific guest characters like Link on the Nintendo GameCube version of SoulCalibur 2 or Yoda in the Xbox 360 version of Soulcalibur 4. Rumors have started circulating online for potential guest characters like the Bloodborne Hunter for the PlayStation 4 version or Jago from Killer Instinct on the Xbox One, but they have yet to be confirmed.

Soulcalibur 6 will launch in 2018 for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
