SoulCalibur V Three Unannounced Characters Revealed

With Soul Calibur V taking place 17 years after the events of the last game, a lot of speculation has been focused on just who is going to appear. It has already been confirmed that a number of new characters will become part of the cast, as well as older versions of fan favorites. For the most part, Namco has been fairly quiet and hasn't revealed too much information just yet, but at the San Diego Comic-Con this year, we were given a little more to chew on.

A new trailer for Soul Calibur V was shown at the event, hinting at a bit more of the story of the game and revealing three characters that hadn't been announced to this point. Two of those characters were teased earlier this month, leaving many to wonder if long-time favorites Taki and Raphael had returned. Well, turns out they haven't (at least not yet anyway), as both of these revealed characters are brand-new.

Have a look for yourself and see these two new faces, along with a very familiar one, in action.

As you can see, long-time favorite Ivy will be returning for Soul Calibur V, though she really doesn't look that much older. Perhaps it's a side effect of her soul now technically being with her father, the zombie pirate Cervantes? Or maybe it just seems like she hasn't aged, who knows? Whatever the case, her fighting style doesn't appear to have changed much in the past 17 years.

Along with the trailer came a veritable screenshot explosion, so check them out now:

The first new character shown is named Natsu, and you could be forgiven for thinking it was Taki. If the trailer is anything to go by, her fighting style is pretty much exactly the same as Taki's, albeit with a few new tricks up her sleeve. She even looks a lot like Taki, which actually makes it fairly likely that the old favorite won't be reappearing in Soul Calibur V, and has been effectively replaced by Natsu. Time will tell.

The third character is one by the name of Z.W.E.I., who apparently has something of a mysterious past to him. He certainly looks mysterious, and not just because of the evil look on his face. With somewhats of an odd fighting style, and wielding what looks like a short sword with a reverse grip, Z.W.E.I. can also summon some sort of minion to do his bidding, if the trailer is anything to go by.

What do you think of the two newest additions to the Soul Calibur roster? What other characters do you hope to see return now that Ivy has been confirmed?

Soul Calibur V will release next year for the Xbox 360 and PS3.
