About a couple of months ago, Bandai Namco Entertainment showcased the addition of The Witcher's Geralt of Rivia as a guest-starring character in the forthcoming fighting game sequel, Soul Calibur 6, which ought to lend loads of crossover enjoyability to the title. Of course, core fans of the series are looking to be serviced as well, and they will likely rejoice at the fact that the publisher and developer has now confirmed that Yoshimitsu will be in franchise's next entry.

As found in Yoshimitsu's reveal trailer below, Soul Calibur 6 will see the return of the Manji Clan's most powerful warrior rising up to do battle with anyone who stands in his way by making quick work of his competition, with this iteration of the character being nicknamed "the original mechanical ninja". Much like in previous installments of the fighting game, Yoshimitsu will wield a katana, as well as a slew of odd, unpredictable moves to throw opponents off their game.

Despite the fact that Soul Calibur 6 has mostly relied on showing off familiar faces such as Mitsurugi, Ivy, Kilik, Nightmare, and others so far, Yoshimitsu's return to the fold should be pleasing to long-time fans, particularly when one takes into account the character's newly designed duds. After all, there's always time for Bandai Namco to unveil new fighters in the coming weeks and months, especially with E3 2018 being just around the corner.

Speaking of this year's Electronics Entertainment Expo, one can only hope that Bandai Namco not only uses the event to announce never-before-included roster members, but also a solid release date for Soul Calibur 6. As of now, all we know is that the fighting game is scheduled to launch at some point this year, so it would be nice to learn exactly when we should expect to be welcomed back to the stage of history during gaming's current generation.

Soul Calibur 6 is currently scheduled to release during 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
