Just a couple of weeks ago, Bandai Namco Entertainment continued to confirm Soul Calibur 6 fans' suspicions that the sequel's roster would mostly contain familiar faces from past installments, as Talim was confirmed to be a playable character in the forthcoming fighting game. Now, the company has officially announced the return of yet another series staple figure by giving Voldo the spotlight in its latest gameplay trailer for the next entry in the long-running franchise.

As seen in the video below, Voldo's unique and oftentimes outlandish "self-taught" fighting style is on full display, with the blind and mute brawler making quick work of fellow Soul Calibur 6 roster members like Mitsurugi, Nightmare, and Kilik. While his move set is unorthodox, it's safe to say that many in the competitive scene enjoy Voldo precisely for that reason due to his broad range of attacks that can utilize practically his full body as a weapon – pelvis included.

As previously mentioned, Soul Calibur 6's roster is mostly populated with veterans of the franchise – Voldo, for instance, has been in every game in the series – but Bandai Namco has made sure to give fans some never-before-included characters, too. As it so happens, the sequel not only has a new original character with Groh, but also it features the guest star Geralt of Rivia from CD Projekt Red's The Witcher series.

Taking all of the promotional wares for Soul Calibur 6 released thus far into account, it definitely looks like Bandai Namco is aiming to please longtime fans and also attract newcomers by having a somewhat staid, but solid selection of roster members alongside newer, more accessible mechanics like the Reversal Edge. At any rate, we will simply have to wait and see if the sequel manages to be a worthy successor to the prior chapters of the widely acclaimed fighting game franchise.

Soul Calibur 6 is set to release on October 19, 2018 for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
