Sony's reveal of the official PS5 logo has broken a record on social media app Instagram. The post with the logo reveal got thousands of comments from fans and has 2 million more likes on Instagram than Microsoft's post about the Xbox Series X design.

A report by Video Games Chronicle says that Sony's reveal of the PS5 logo is now the most liked gaming Instagram post in history. The post, which now has 5 million likes and 139,000 comments, has far more likes than the Fortnite Avengers teaser which had 2.6 million likes. The Xbox Series X design reveal has 990,000 likes on Instagram and the video of the console has 1.8 million views, though as the official PlayStation Instagram has 22.1 million followers compared to Xbox's 9.9 million, it's not surprising.

Sony will be delighted at the news as it only took the PS5 logo post a few days to beat the record. It also confirms that fans are hugely excited about the next-generation console. Some of the only games confirmed for the console are Godfall, which was announced for PS5 at The Game Awards 2019 and The Lord of the Rings: Gollum which has been confirmed for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X. However, this isn't stopping fans from wanting to know more about the console.

It also suggests that the PS5 logo reveal didn't go badly. After revealing the logo, many people made fun of it on social media and began to ask why Sony hadn't changed it much compared to the logos of the PS3 and the PS4. There were several PS5 logo memes which showed how easily Sony had been able to create the logo. The logo and the name may not be very surprising but those millions of people who liked the post on Instagram don't seem to be so upset.

Sony will be hoping that fans will be this excited when they show more of the console. There have been leaked PS5 controller images and images of the PS5 devkit, but there haven't been any official images taken by Sony. Any official images of the PS5 console could also be record-breaking on Instagram, potentially making it very difficult for the Xbox Series X, Fortnite, or any other game to take the Instagram gaming crown back.
