Sony released an announcement on its official Twitter account to promote new online PS4 tournaments that will be happening over the summer. PlayStation 4 Players of all types can come together to compete on some of the platform’s most popular games with the potential to win a variety of different prizes.

At the beginning of last August, Sony launched the PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Challenger Series. Players of all skill levels were invited to try a taste of competitive gaming from the comfort of their homes as they battled against their friends and other PS4 users. With the community feedback Sony received from those tournaments, the company decided to start offering another set of tournaments for this summer.

Sony announced that it is starting the PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Open Series on June 1. When the tournament launches, it will be kicking off with seven different games: Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, EA Sports FIFA 20, Mortal Kombat 11, Warface, NBA 2K20, SoulCalibur VI, and BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle. Sony added that top players from the North American and European regions may be appearing on their broadcasts to show off their skills to the PlayStation audience.

Players can compete in weekly tournaments to rank up and earn a spot in the final tournament every month, which gives out more valuable prizes. Prizes can range from special and Champion themes to rare avatars to, in the case of some of the games’ winners, cash amounts. The prizes, save the cash amounts, will be changing every month so that players can collect a wide variety of winnings, and high performing players may even be invited to special, invitation-only tournaments.

In order to be eligible for the tournaments, a player must be a PlayStation Plus member so they have access to online multiplayer and can compete against other players. To sign up for a tournament, look under the Events tab in the PS4 and check out the Tournament section.

This summer is the perfect time to take advantage of promotions like these and test your skills against other PS4 players. While the pool of games in the tournament is solid, Sony can also try to expand this list to include other competitive games such as Rocket League. Either way, the PlayStation 4 Tournaments: Open Series looks like something that PS4 users may want to check out.
