PlayStation is currently breaking records with the PlayStation 5 as the next-gen console continues to sell out across the world nearly a year after its release. Yet while the console war remains PlayStation's top priority, it has also set its eyes on a separate platform. The PC gaming environment has become an increasing focus for PlayStation, with the company publishing more and more of its biggest first-party exclusives on the platform. To punctuate this new effort, PlayStation has launched a new label.

Introducing PlayStation PC, a brand that Sony will be associating with all of its publishing efforts to bring games from the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 to the PC platform. The label is already appearing in official PlayStation communications. It was first noticed on Steam, where several games including Days Gone, Helldivers, GUNS UP!, and Everybody's Gone to the Rapture have had their publisher updated to PlayStation PC LLC.

Previously, these games were listed under the publisher of PlayStation Mobile. That publishing label is still listed for several of PlayStation's PC games, including Horizon: Zero Dawn Complete Edition, Predator: Hunting Grounds, and the recently announced God of War PC port. These listings will likely be updated before long. The PlayStation Mobile label was simply available for Sony to use when it decided to begin its experiment with PC ports.

While the switch to the PlayStation PC label from PlayStation Mobile doesn't have any direct implications, there's a clear implication to the decision. An official label for PlayStation game publication on PC shows that, at the very least, PlayStation isn't backtracking on its decision. It could have otherwise stuck with the PlayStation Mobile label. God of War's PC port announcement is further evidence of this dedication to the platform, being PlayStation's biggest PC release yet.

It's too early to tell if the introduction of the PlayStation PC publishing level means a greater effort to bring PlayStation games to PC. It certainly has to be looked at as positive news, though. And it's certain to renew hopes among PlayStation fans that more ports of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games are coming.

While it isn't reliable, there has been an increased number of rumors regarding PlayStation PC ports recently. Rumored upcoming PlayStation PC ports include Bloodborne, Demon's Souls, Deracine, Ghost of Tsushima, Gran Turismo 7, Horizon Forbidden West, Ratchet and Clank (no subtitle provided), Returnal, and Sackboy: A Big Adventure. Of course, at this point, PlayStation fans may as well hope every PlayStation exclusive will come to PC eventually. The PlayStation PC label will only reinvigorate those hopes.
