[UPDATE: Sony has deleted the tweet regarding Bloodborne. What this could potentially mean is unknown. We have replaced the embedded tweet, which was no longer accessible, with a screenshot of the post. Original story follows.]

Sony has made an odd social media post regarding Bloodborne, with many hoping that the company is teasing some form of announcement. As many know, this title remains one of FromSoftware's most popular titles, which is saying something given Elden Ring's success, but Sony owns the IP rights to Bloodborne. This means Sony could do something, theoretically speaking, without FromSoftware, but at the same time, the company may not want to.

Bloodborne trends online every few weeks, often to no comment from Sony or FromSoftware. Given the oddity of the post too, it's hard not to see this as something special.

The post is pretty simple, as seen below. Sony asked if fans can see it and asked if they knew what PlayStation cover the company was zooming in on. It's immediately obvious that it's Bloodborne from the Hunter's cap, but why make the post is the question everyone is asking. Despite Bloodborne's popularity, it has never received a sequel, has not been ported to PC, or has never been upgraded for PS5 consoles. The sequel is unlikely, but the other two are not out of the question.

After all, many Sony titles have been making the jump to PC like the Marvel's Spider-Man games, while even more than that have received quality and performance upgrades for the PS5. Games like The Last of Us have even been rebuilt for it. Hopefully, this means something, but fans should keep their expectations in check. It's not certain if Sony is saying anything is happening with Bloodborne at all or just making a random social media post.

One insider recently claimed that nothing was happening with Bloodborne, as FromSoftware is busy working on Elden Ring support and potentially DLC. It should also be noted that no Bloodborne project was seemingly listed on the leaked documents that contained the Horizon Zero Dawn remake/remaster (which, as of this writing, remains unconfirmed). It's easy to hope though, and the timing of this post is just as curious as the post itself.

Recent rumors suggest that Sony has canceled its PlayStation Showcase so as to not strengthen Microsoft's argument to regulators regarding its Activision Blizzard King acquisition. Supposedly, the slew of recent reveals like the Silent Hill transmission, the Final Fantasy 16 trailer, the Hideo Kojima Elle Fanning tease, and the upcoming Resident Evil showcase were all originally part of the PS Showcase. If so, then it would be easy enough to see this potential Bloodborne tease through the same lens, and if something is happening with the popular IP, fans will no doubt be excited when/if they learn more.

Bloodborne is available on PS4.
