With E3 2018 just around the corner, and plenty of great titles already confirmed for the show, it's a pretty exciting time of year to be a gaming enthusiast. Keen to harness the hype, Sony has decided to make announcements on every day from June 6th until its E3 Showcase on June 11th, with three of these being brand new PS4 games.

Sony PlayStation's E3 show this year is already looking in good shape, after a blog post confirmed a few of the heavy hitters. Taking place on Monday, June 11 at 6PM Pacific Time, the show will feature Marvel's Spider-Man, Sucker Punch's Ghost of Tsushima, the enigmatic Death Stranding, as well as The Last of Us: Part 2.

Another PlayStation blog post, published today, details the upcoming announcements in the run-up to E3 2018. Aptly named the "Countdown to E3", every day will feature a new announcement:

Wednesday, June 6th - Announce: New PS4 Game With PS VR Support

Thursday, June 7th - Release Date for an Upcoming Worldwide Studios Title

Friday, June 8th - Announce: New PS4 Game

Saturday, June 9th - Announce: New PS VR Game

Sunday, June 10th - Details: An Eagerly Anticipated Game Comes to PS VR

All announcements and details will be released at 8AM Pacific Time on PlayStation's livestream, available on Twitch, Youtube, Facebook, or PlayStation's website. It's currently unclear what form the information will take – announcements could be made through Sony's representatives, trailers, or both.

It's interesting to see that 3 of the 5 announcements will be for brand new PS4 titles. It's possible that these announcements may confirm the existence of the rumored Bloodborne 2 and Devil May Cry 5, which both appeared on a document which is claimed to detail PlayStation's entire E3 showcase.

The "Release Date for an Upcoming Worldwide Studios Title" could be any number of things, given the number of subsidiary developers under that title, though there will undoubtedly be much hope that this refers to The Last of Us: Part 2. Meanwhile, "An Eagerly Anticipated Game Comes to PS VR" is so deliberately vague that meaningful predictions are virtually impossible.

Between this Countdown to E3 and the decision to show its press conference in movie theaters, Sony seems assured to have a big display this year. Whatever these mysterious new PS4 titles turn out to be, their announcements will help maintain the hype in the lead up to the PlayStation conference.
