Now that the Sonic the Hedgehog movie has been made available digitally, Paramount Pictures is offering fans of the blue blur’s cinematic debut a look at an early version of the film’s opening, which also reveals its original design for Baby Sonic.

Ever since Sonic’s adorable younger self was first revealed back in December, many fans have been curious to know what the tiny hedgehog would have looked like if he had been based on his poorly-received, more human-like original design instead of the redesign seen in the movie. Well, they now have their answer, as a deleted scene released by Paramount shows just that.

While the differences between the original Baby Sonic and the redesigned version aren’t as noticeable as they are with older Sonic, a few things do stand out, like his lack of gloves and the eerily realistic teeth he was originally going to sport. The fact that the visual effects in the footage aren’t complete also serves to make this take on Baby Sonic that much more uncanny.

The scene is also interesting in that it shows off an alternate version of the Sonic movie where Sonic’s owl guardian Longclaw sticks around longer than she does in the actual film. Without getting too spoilery, it does make for a less dramatic opening than the final product, but it’s still interesting to see what could have been.

Sonic the Hedgehog is now available digitally, with a physical release to follow on May 19.
