A Sonic the Hedgehog collection may be on the way. The same website that recently listed a Sonic Colors Remaster appears to have leaked Sonic Collection for the PlayStation 4, and while this information is not officially confirmed, speculation is getting interesting.

The Sonic series is one that is often surrounded by leaks and rumors, including a recent Sonic Adventure Remake rumor. The most recent whispers appear to involve a collection of the original Sega Genesis Sonic titles. If true, the collection would likely pull at the heartstrings of Sonic the Hedgehog enthusiasts.

In early April, the website Sogamely listed Sonic Colors Ultimate, and other outlets reported on the possibility of a Sonic Colors Remaster. Now Sogamely has listed the Sonic Collection EU version. There are no details beyond that, but there have been plenty of other rumors revolving around Sega's beloved mascot, so it is possible to put together a guess as to what this collection could be.

A known insider and leaker who goes by "Zippo" recently shared that Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Sonic and Knuckles would be getting re-releases soon. The theory is that Sonic 3 and Sonic and Knuckles would be packaged in with the original Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic the Hedgehog 2 in this collection. For now this is all conjecture, as information has come in piecemeal from various locations.

The other interesting aspect of the latest tidbit is that the Sonic Collection is marked only as a PS4 game on by Sogamely. It is likely that if a Sonic the Hedgehog game such as this is real, it will not be on PS4 alone, since Sega has also previously released titles on Xbox and Nintendo Switch. Whether or not the game makes the jump to PS5 and Xbox Series X/|S is another question.

The Sonic series has certainly had its ups and downs, but right now it appears to be on the mend. Sonic Mania was one of the better-received games in the series, and its early games are still where many fans find nostalgia, which is why it could be wise for Sega to release some sort of collection.

Many fans are interested in what Sega will show at E3 2021 this year. The best-case scenario would likely be a mix of new game announcements and fanfare reveals for classic collections, such as this rumored Sonic Collection. None of this is confirmed at this point, so it should be taken with a grain of salt. However, it is certainly fair to hope for an announcement related to Sonic the Hedgehog in the near future.
