Build-A-Bear now offers three different gift sets based on the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise. The new collection also includes an online exclusive and cute plush accessories for the standard Sonic the Hedgehog plushes. Considering the success of the recent film franchise, the characters are a welcome addition to the workshop.

The stuffed animals have been released as part of a promotion for the Sonic the Hedgehog sequel. Robotnik along with his new sidekick, Knuckles, returns with a new plan to destroy the world. This leads Sonic and Tails on a race against the mustachioed doctor to find a magical emerald that can destroy civilizations. The sequel has received generally favorable reviews and is the top-grossing video game-based movie of all time.

Build-A-Bear offers a basic plush of Sonic the Hedgehog with its cheapest option of $32. The step up from that, Sonic Gift Set, comes with a golden ring wristie and Sonic’s red shoes to dress up the basic plush at $49 total. The most expensive option is set at $57 and includes the basic Sonic plush, all previously mentioned add-ons, and a Sonic 5-in-1 sound chip that features phrases spoken in Sonic the Hedgehog 2. The accessories can be purchased separately.

The workshop also offers two other options in the Sonic the Hedgehog collection. One is an online exclusive plush of Sonic’s best friend and former enemy, Knuckles the Echidna. His plush is 17 inches tall and set at $32. Other options include a regular Build-A-Bear teddy bear plush that can be dressed up in Sonic the Hedgehog clothing. One version of clothing is called the “Happy Hugs Teddy Sonic PJ Sleeper Gift Set,” which showcases a regular teddy bear wearing Sonic-themed pajamas. The second clothing option includes “Lil’ Cub Brownie Sonic & Tails” where a teddy bear can wear a t-shirt featuring Sonic and his fox pal Tails. Both clothing options are available for purchase separately.

This isn’t the first time Build-A-Bear has taken on a popular video game franchise. The company released an Animal Crossing line last year featuring beloved characters from the game which sold out on more than one occasion. Build-A-Bear definitely tapped into the video game stuffed animal merchandise pipeline with loads of success. The success of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise and films has proven there are definitely super fans out there who are willing to pay big bucks for a Sonic or Knuckles plushes. Though some fans might find it disappointing that Tails was not included as a main plush in this collection, at least he wasn't left out altogether. In other news, the collection comes just in time to get in on the Sonic Frontiers video game hype. With Christmas swiftly approaching, Build-A-Bear's new video game collection surely has some great gifts to offer.
