Monster Hunter Rise continues to put out special DLC content for all of its players. Later this month, Sonic the Hedgehog joins the line-up of special collaboration quests alongside Mega Man's Rush and Ghost and Goblins' Arthur. Special armor isn't the only thing players can enjoy from the team-up between SEGA and Capcom, as artists from both development teams have drawn new official art to showcase the collaboration.
The Monster Hunter Rise and Sonic the Hedgehog collaboration event was revealed as part of Capcom's Tokyo Game Show Livestream. Later, a new trailer would showcase the game's special equipment that can only be obtained by completing special event quests, and reveal that the event itself would be available on November 26th to all players.
Sometime after the new Monster Hunter Rise trailer was uploaded showcasing the special items, Capcom and SEGA surprised fans by sharing artwork on social media as part of the collaboration, with both pieces showcasing each of the franchises in their respective styles. Yuji Uekawa from Sonic Team, most known for his Sonic Adventure artworks, personally drew a piece depicting Sonic resting with a Palico and Palamute buddy. To make the artwork stand out even further, Sonic is seen in the iconic armor of Kamura Village, complete with special headgear to cover his quills.
Capcom's piece meanwhile features Sonic running alongside a Palamute and Palico without the added armor detail, but the entire piece is done in the art style seen on Monster Hunter Rise's monster sketches, giving Sonic himself a unique Monster Hunter feel exclusive to the artwork.
Fans have expressed enjoying the detail found in the artworks, and since this is the first Monster Hunter collaboration that has art to go alongside it, it definitely solidifies that both development teams are rather excited about the special event. The special collaboration between Capcom and SEGA also features plenty of items for fans to get, with the most items being available in an event thus far.
In the middle of all of the special event DLC quests found in Monster Hunter Rise, Monster Hunter World has been losing collaboration quests as certain licenses have run out over time. While this is still a fair way off for Monster Hunter Rise, fans should keep the fact that even the Sonic quest may only be around for a few years before being made unavailable.
Monster Hunter Rise is available now for Nintendo Switch, with a PC release coming January 12, 2022.
