Over the years, Sonic the Hedgehog has battled some very memorable foes. Characters such as Robotnik/Eggman, Metal Sonic, Shadow the Hedgehog, Chaos, and (to a lesser extent) Silver the Hedgehog have been some of the greatest villains and rivals that the blue blur has ever has the displeasure of going up against, and in Sonic Generations we'll get to see them all do battle with Sonic again.

Sega released a brand new trailer for Sonic Generations today, proving that they are still sitting on plenty of unannounced news for the game, which is less than a month away from launch. All of the previously mentioned baddies make an appearance in the new trailer — which has appropriately been titled "Bosses" — and those who have been following the Sonic series throughout the years will enjoy the dose of nostalgia each villain brings to the table.

While a few of the appearances by Sonic's rivals were expected, such as Metal Sonic, it's still nice to see the classic characters in action. Especially Chaos, who still looks as terrifyingly large and intimidating as he (it?) did when he debuted in Sonic Adventure back in the Dreamcast era.

Sonic Generations is looking like one of the better games releasing this year, and it has given hope to many fans that it will finally be the long-awaited return to form for everyone's favorite hedgehog. The combination of 2D and 3D gameplay really make this title appealing to old and new fans alike, although the hardcore fans will buy the Special Edition regardless of how good the game looks — and fortunately it looks pretty freaking good!

Sonic Generations will be spin-dashing onto Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on November 1st. It's also coming to the Nintendo 3DS, but there's no word yet on when that version will be hitting store shelves.
