Sonic Frontiers comes out in less than a month, and fans already have some special Monster Hunter crossover DLC to look forward to. Fans will be able to battle the huge and intimidating Titan bosses dressed fittingly like a Monster Hunter protagonist as they once again help Sonic save the world from the evil Dr. Eggman and his latest scheme gone wrong.

This isn't the first DLC announcement for Sonic Frontiers, however, it looks to be the biggest DLC bundle for the game yet. Fans became aware that Sonic's latest adventure would offer some downloadable content when exclusive pre-order bundles in Japan came with different DLC depending on where the order was placed.

Once fans claim the Monster Hunter DLC, they'll gain two sets of Rathalos armor that Sonic can wear, as well as special animations that see Sonic cooking meat on a skewer, much like players would in Monster Hunter itself. According to the announcement from the official Monster Hunter Twitter page, the cosmetic items also come with a mini-game of some kind. There isn't much information about this mini-game known just yet, but there's a chance it may be something as small as the little "mini-game" fans play with cooking the meat on the skewer with the right timing.

This is most definitely sure to excite some fans who happen to adore Monster Hunter as well as Sonic, but even for those who aren't interested in the collab, this DLC bundle may serve as a sign that bigger packages of other cosmetics, games, and animations may come later after Sonic Frontiers releases. Even if it doesn't, Sonic fans still have some exciting downloadable content to look forward to as things like the official Frontiers newsletter will be handing out download codes for the shoes Sonic wore in Sonic Adventure 2 shortly after launch, too.

Sega and Capcom seem to have a good relationship between them as this isn't at all the first time the Sonic series has collaborated with Monster Hunter. This marks the third crossover between both franchises, with Sonic cosmetics appearing in Monster Hunter Rise and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate.

However, depending on the size of the mini-game, there's an argument to be made that features like that shouldn't be locked behind DLC. The Monster Hunter DLC for Sonic Frontiers may launch as early as November 14, but it might not be available forever. Collaborations like these tend to exist through licenses between companies that can expire, which has been seen with crossover missions in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne being removed for that reason. Thankfully, this usually takes years, so the new DLC might be around for quite some time.

Sonic Frontiers will launch on November 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The Monster Hunter DLC will go live on November 14.
