Right before the launch of Sonic Frontiers, gameplay preview videos have been uploaded that showcase the game's third island, Chaos Island. This gameplay preview also shows the player rescuing one of Sonic's best friends, Miles "Tails" Prower. Chaos Island was briefly showcased earlier this year in the Super Sonic trailer at TGS. Fans didn't get much of a good look at the location at the time, with the volcanic setting being the only thing known. Recent videos from various publications showcased not only extensive gameplay footage of this island, but also several elements of the open-world design, combat, and objectives.

One of these first videos was from IGN, showing off six minutes of unedited gameplay of Sonic Frontiers in Chaos Island. Unlike the first video showcase of the game back in June that hid all the UI elements, this video makes everything visible upfront, giving players an idea of what they should expect to see and what to keep track of. This includes mission objectives, the current count of rings, portal gears, stats, and more. It also sees Sonic running across the game's vast environment and gameplay variety.

Chaos Island is looking to be high in the sky with mountain ranges, with a set of smoky volcanoes in the background too. Players will also be shifting perspectives from time to time, going from a full 3D perspective to a 2D segment depending on the area. This is further assisted by the usage of classic Sonic platforming elements like grind rails and springs. Aside from platforming challenges, other activities such as Parrying challenges and fights with enemies like the Shinobi are highlighted. One boss fight is almost a scene straight from Shadow of the Colossus, as Sonic rides a series of grind rails to fight a giant flying enemy.

Sonic can also be seen collecting a variety of yellow wrench emblems that are scattered across Chaos Island. Much like the pink hearts on Kronos Island, these serve as a collectible known as memory tokens, which are used to help save Sonic's friends. The pink hearts represent Amy, while these yellow wrenches are emblematic of Sonic's best friend Tails. Shacknews' video showcases that Tails can be found on this island, along with a brief cutscene of the collected memory tokens freeing him.

Both videos were praised by fans for being able to show the game in a much better and more detailed light, giving a much clearer picture of the gameplay loop and environments. Other notable features were also praised, such as the game's dynamic day-night cycle, along with the engaging combat. Sonic Frontiers is looking to be one of the most ambitious titles in the franchise, with each new video piquing fans' interest and hype.

Sonic Frontiers will launch on November 8 for PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
