With the release of Dreams, players have created a variety of different games and levels. Dreams allows players to become creators, being able to explore a wide range of avenues and tools to use. One fan wanted to pay tribute to the Sonic the Hedgehog series by recreating some of the best parts of the character's adventures. This includes classics like Sonic Adventure 2 and some of the more modern releases like Sonic Unleashed and Sonic Generations.

Creators have demonstrated how far the tools in Dreams can be stretched, with many of their creations being quite amazing and enjoyable. The in-game limits haven't stopped the creativity of players working around them to make something incredible. This can be seen in other fan tributes, such as one player who celebrated Donkey Kong's anniversary with a 3D Dreams game, complete with a set of open 3D levels. This is no exception, with this fan managing to recreate some of Sonic's best 3D levels, but also its open world.

This Dreams creation was made by a user known as RichMenace_94, with it being titled Sonic Adventure: Dreams Edition. While the title does bring to mind its primary inspiration, the creator has said it is not a full-on remake of Sonic Adventure. That being said, there are still elements of that series in the game. This includes the open-world the player can explore being Station Square, along with one of the playable levels being the iconic City Escape from Sonic Adventure 2. The use of the original tracks from those games playing in those areas ties into the connection as well.

While the levels are from some of the Dreamcast era of Sonic, the primary gameplay involves the Boost mechanic, which has been present in most modern Sonic games since Sonic Unleashed. Other levels that can be seen in this creation include a beach-inspired adventure, similar to Seaside Hill from Sonic Heroes. As such some of these classic levels have been built to play to the Boost mechanic's strengths, instead of simply remaking the older levels into Dreams. These levels can all be accessed through the overworld, which is also built in a similar fashion to Sonic Unleashed.

With this Dreams creation still under production, it's still a work in progress. There are more functions and features being added to the game, such as more overworld maps to explore, minigames to play, and items to use. These include hidden emblems that are hidden all over the world that can be used to unlock more areas. For fans waiting for the 2022 Sonic game, this might bring back a sense of nostalgia for the adventure era of games.

Dreams is available now on PS4.
