If you are a Sonic fan then you have probably realized that the recent string of Sonic titles have been lack luster - to say the least.

Well, it would appear that SEGA is keeping with what they know -- old Sonic games are better than new ones. Recently, the ESRB rated Sonic's first 3D adventure title, Sonic Adventure - settling on an "E for Everyone" stamp for the upcoming port. Sonic Adventure originally debuted on the Sega Dreamcast but is about to see a re-release 0n Xbox 360, PS3, and PC.

The game was rated early last week by the Korean rating boards (along with Crazy Taxi) and is now washing up on Western shores.

The news has far reaching implications as, odds are, we will be seeing quite a few more classic SEGA Dreamcast titles on the current-gen consoles.

I have some fond memories of Sonic Adventure -- well, the memories that don't involve that big dumb purple cat. The game has a pretty wicked adventure mode that allows you to follow the stories of several different heroes: Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, and Amy - characters that were playable in the original title, so it should be interesting to see.

Oddly enough however, the new Sonic Adventure and the Gamecube re-release Sonic Adventure DX were both rated by the ESRB. Most likely, SEGA won't release both versions, but it could mean SEGA has something else up their sleeves - so we'll have to keep an eye on them.

There is no word on a release date, but I would put money on an announcement next week at E3 - we'll be bringing you plenty of live coverage from the event and will make sure to report on any further Sonic-related developments.

Are you excited for the return of Sonic Adventure or are you just hoping for some easy achievements/trophies?
