Isekai power fantasies are probably the fastest-growing anime genre within the last decade thanks to the success of Sword Art Online. Currently, the most popular series within this genre is not a Japanese manga but instead, a Korean Manhwa. Fans of Chugong's Solo-Leveling might have something big to look forward to, as new information hinting that the series may be getting an anime adaptation was recently made public.

In the world of Solo Leveling, rather than the protagonist being sent to a fantasy world, the fantasy comes to his world. Magical beasts and dungeons begin to appear all over South Korea and humans start to awaken various abilities to face them. These humans are called hunters and despite Sung Jinwoo being the weakest hunter, a certain event occurs that grants him the skill to do something no other person in this story can do, increase his base stats, abilities, and skills. Essentially Sun Jinwoo gains the ability to level up and starts going out on adventures on his own and thus the title Solo Leveling makes complete sense

Solo Leveling has skyrocketed in popularity despite not having an anime adaptation, even earning itself a spot in the top 10 most popular manga/Manhwa series on Myanimelist. Despite this, years have gone by without any concrete evidence of an anime adaptation being in the works. Other webtoons have also not had much success with getting adaptations and those that did receive them did not necessarily perform well so what news has come to light to indicate what to many fans was a far-off dream is now a reality?

GMO Internet, a company based in Japan, has recently registered a website domain with the title sololeveling-anime.net. After a bit of digging it was also discovered GMO internet is the same company that in fact registered the domain for Sword Art Online’s website. The title of the website domain is very much a giveaway leaving very little to be interpreted and because it's the same company behind Sword Art Online It would be reasonable to deduce that A-1 Pictures, the studio behind Sword Art Online’s animation will be animating Solo-Leveling.

No official announcements have been made regarding this news, so this is still speculation, however, this information is very telling. After all, why else would a company open a domain for a series and put anime in the domain name? Nonetheless, fans should still keep their fingers crossed as nothing has been put on the domain just yet.

Not everyone is sure to be happy with this news though. Some fans might believe since Solo Leveling is by a Korean author, the studio to produce and animate it should also be Korean. Some Japanese fans may also not be fans of the country's portrayal in the series, which could impact the way the story is animated if animated by a Japanese studio. Fans will have to wait as new information presents itself.
