David Hayter, best known for his performance as various incarnations of Snake from the Metal Gear Solidseries, will be lending his voice to the upcoming Castlevania spiritual successor Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Come the game's release, Hayter will be joining the rest of the cast as the katana-wielding demon hunter known as Zangetsu who will be a second playable character.

Zangetsu is a character from the upcoming title's 8-bit predecessor Bloodstained: Curse of the Moon, which had been featured in February 2019's Xbox Games with Gold. In Curse of the Moon, Zangetsu was a character who harbored a great deal of hatred for demons, who had cursed him. This, in conjunction with other factors, made Zangetsu despise demons and inspired him to fiercely hunt them down far and wide.

Now, for Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, David Hayter will be lending his talents to truly convey Zangetsu's aggression towards the malicious demons. In the reveal trailer for the character, Zangetsu threatens that he will "cut down all demons." Those words, of course uttered by Hayter in a familiar gravelly manner, recall the actor's distinct croaky tone of voice in his portrayal as Solid Snake.

It also appears that the game's director stayed true to the stretch goal here. In Koji Igarashi's announcement of Bloodstained on Kickstarter, it was determined that in the event of funding reaching a threshold of $850,000, Hayter would be lending his voice to the game.

Regarding David Hayter and his history in the film and game industries, Hayter has worked on an impressive number of projects. Not only has he voiced the legendary Snake in most of his renditions, but he has also provided voiceovers for the likes of Star Wars: The Old Republic, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Eternal Darkness: Sanity's Requiem, Spider-Man: The Animated Series, and X-Men: Evolution. Additionally, Hayter received writing credits for the screenplays of X-MenX2: X-Men United, and Watchmen. Most recently, he voiced supervillain King Shark in Supergirl and The Flash.

Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night will be releasing June 18, 2019 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC. It will also be releasing June 25, 2019 on Nintendo Switch.
