Very different in appearance from the previous Solar Ash bosses, Lost Sentry is tall instead of long, and also possesses a deadly ranged attack that can make approaching them dangerous. Lost Sentry is the third boss that players can encounter in the game, though, despite looking different from the former 2 bosses, one will still have to take them down by climbing their huge body and striking their weaknesses.

As such, one will have to use the methods that they have implemented against previous bosses, namely grappling, skating, and boosting along the foe's massive body. However, Lost Sentry's arms and torso are a bit tricky to navigate. Thankfully, there are some tricks that gamers can remember to have an easier time defeating this boss in Solar Ash.

Step 1 - How To Climb Onto The Lost Sentry

Where The Initial Grapple Points Are

Unlike previous bosses, the grapple points that players need to use to climb onto the boss' body won't always be available. The starting weak point that one needs to grapple to is always on one of Lost Sentry's arms, however, the boss raises their arms into the air fairly often, meaning that players will have to wait for them to be lowered before they can begin their attack. Try to stick close by, so that when the arms are lowered one can rush toward them and begin grappling. Regardless of how much Health the boss has left, the initial grapple point of each attack will be on the tip of one of its arms.

How To Avoid The Laser

Staying close to the boss while not getting hit can be a bit tricky, as Losy Sentry will frequently use a powerful laser attack that not only has great tracking but also leaves small pools of corrosive liquid nearby that can also hurt the player. The pools of acid can be avoided fairly easily, as they don't stick around for too long. The big problem is the laser itself, although, it cannot penetrate walls, so taking cover is a solid option for avoiding getting hit. Alternatively, players can use their skating and boosting abilities to zoom around swiftly enough to outrun the laser, despite this being a risky maneuver.

Step 2 - Destroy The Weakpoints

The Boss' Body Layout

Here is where Lost Sentry is more similar to previous bosses in Solar Ash. The act of breaking all of the minor weak points to open up the major one should be straightforward to players. However, the positions of the bony plates of Lost Sentry's body will require one to go back and forth between multiple areas many times instead of running along the back of a serpentine form in a straight line.

How To Avoid Disorientation

As such, players should be prepared to turn and backtrack, which can be disorienting at first. A good way to avoid getting confused is to keep turning in the same direction while changing where the camera is looking. That is to say, that players should only turn their cameras either left or right during this part of the boss fight, as sticking with one direction will help to prevent disorientation.

About Phase 2

Like with other bosses, when Lost Sentry loses 2 out of its 3 Health, it will enter phase 2. This phase will consist of Lost Sentry's body turning red so that contact with anything other than its bony plates will cause the player to lose a shield cell. Furthermore, the speed at which all weak points need to be hit is increased, so one will need to stay on their toes. Despite the heightened difficulty, everything else is the same as the previous phase, so players should keep doing what they were before--just faster.

Solar Ash is available on Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 5.
