With the fabled Justice League Snyder Cut finally getting a release on HBO Max in 2021, Zack Snyder has been talking about his plans for a potential sequel if it ever were to happen. And for DCEU fans, this could finally mean a major DC villain taking centre stage.

In a live streamed chat with YouTube channel The Nerd Queens, Snyder outlined his intention to return to his original vision and have DC's greatest superhero team take on Darkseid. Heavily foreshadowed in Superman vs Batman, Darkseid was intended to be the main villain in the original cut before Snyder departed the production due to a family tragedy.

Expanding more on his plan, Snyder revealed that he's been talking to actor Ray Porter who voices Darkseid in his upcoming version. Then Snyder explained on the League of Mayhem stream that "the truth is that, did I write and did I have and conceive a complete... do I know what happens with Darkseid? Yes. I do know what happens. To say and to speculate about what that is, that would be exciting."

The Snyder Cut release comes after a long fan campaign that saw several cast members join in calling for Snyder's original version to see the light of day. Intended as DC's answer to Marvel's The Avengers, the original cut of Justice League was not a huge success at the box office and stands at a 40% rating on Rotten Tomatoes.

In its defense, the original cut of Justice League was heavily compromised due to having to change directors and undergo many rewrites during its production. Cyborg actor Ray Fisher has also alleged racist behavior by replacement director Joss Whedon on set.

Zack Snyder's Justice League is expected to release on HBO Max early in 2021.
