While the Sniper may be the main part of Sniper Elite 5, it's always worth having a powerful weapon on the side, just in case it's needed. So what's better than some of these fantastic rifles? When it comes to exploring the world of Sniper Elite 5 many will find themselves using different techniques to accomplish their kills. After all, players can't use the sniper in every situation due to the long-range of such a weapon.

This is where the secondary weapons come in. They are a fantastic backup and can save anyone's life when the job starts to go a little wrong. However, most people are coming into this game wanting to use the same or at least a similar style to the Sniper. Luckily the Rifles are available and provide that power, design, and deadly impact many are looking for. However, some are arguably much better than others. Each of these rifles can be improved and customized, but their base stats are a good sign as to how useful they can be overall as well as what is worth having in the first place.

4 Stengun MK2

From the offset, it's worth noting that any preference within these rifles is almost solely opinionated. Each player will be able to succeed when using any of the rifles as long as they have the skills to manage them correctly. However, when exploring pure statistics and the ramifications of the gun itself, some aspects cannot be disputed. While perhaps not the slowest rifle in the game, it's far from the fastest, only firing at a rate of 530 rpm. However, that doesn't necessarily make it a tough gun to fire, more needing a few extra bullets before taking the enemy down.

That slower fire rate unfortunately only strengthens its weakness through the lack of damage. It's the second weakest rifle in Sniper Elite 5 and just fails to hold out when compared to any of the other selections. Essentially, the Stengun MK2 would be an okay gun if it were the first rifle available as players go through the story, but they can get it at the end of mission six and by that point, it's just not worth having.

3 Type 100

Type 100 customised stats

With a decent range, the player should easily be able to fell enemies from a variety of distances, although definitely not as far as they could with their main weapon. Nevertheless, the Type 100 is a good choice for players who just like to unleash hell on their enemies. It's got a quick rate of fire, beating the Stengun MK2 by a considerable amount, therefore, allowing for a bit of spray-and-pray if that's the way players prefer to go into certain combats. They can also go into combat knowing they should do a fair amount of damage with it being just below the likes of the Stengun MK2.

While it may have a lower damage output, more bullets mean more damage and the amount players will be able to pump into their enemy should fell them relatively quickly and with few real problems. It may not be the best rifle in Sniper Elite 5, but it will hold out, and with the right person holding it, the Type 100 could undoubtedly be a powerful weapon to carry the player through the game with relative ease.

2 Machine Pist.44

With the older style and the scratched-up handle, many players will already be able to tell that this weapon has been used by some talented soldiers. When considering the statistics and the general use of the weapon it would make complete sense that this was both a favorite among soldiers and fans of Sniper Elite 5. It's powerful, has a controlled recoil, and has a great magazine size. This in turn makes it a powerful and incredibly entertaining weapon to try out, especially if players want something that looks as deadly as it shoots.

Most players should have no problems felling enemies with this weapon and should easily be able to go through the rest of the game undisputed. That is if they can get hold of it since it's not as easy as certain other weapons. Nevertheless, simply complete the fourth mission and the Machine Pist.44 will be obtainable.

1 M1A1 Gov

M1A1 Gov

The M1A1 is an interesting rifle to have in Sniper Elite 5. It's loud, and bulky, but hits like a truck when fired. It's one of the most powerful rifles in Sniper Elite 5 and also happens to be the first of its kind that players are likely to get their hands on. It's available in mission one and should hold its own throughout the shooting game, catering to players' every need and making them feel like a badass while doing so. Essentially, it has great damage which is complemented by a relatively decent fire rate that doesn't feel too out of control, nor does it feel too slow. This combination makes the M1A1 Gov a fantastic beginner's weapon as well as a great choice for seasoned players.

Moreover, despite the rather small Magazine Size, the M1A1 Gov will quickly prompt players to be careful of their shots and watch what they are doing. This gun both teaches, improves, and tears through the enemy. It's the easiest to use, simplest to get, and is undisputedly the best rifle to use in Sniper Elite 5.

Sniper Elite 5 is out now on: Playstation, Xbox, and PC.
