Hi-Res Studios' SMITE is a mythology-themed MOBA that has a wide variety of characters in its cast. These range from Greek mythology's Zeus, to Japanese mythology's Amaterasu, and even the eldritch abomination Cthulhu from Lovecraftian mythos. SMITE is also however no stranger to crossovers, as in the past few months, fans have seen crossover skins involving various media properties, with Hasbro's Transformers franchise being the latest crossover entry.

The recent crossovers that this game has featured vary, from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to even a Stranger Things SMITE collaboration earlier in June. These skins are usually launched for a limited time through a special battle pass where players have to level up to unlock the event's content. The same is applied here for this new Transformers-themed Battle Pass.

This trailer kicks off with the sight of Zeus being attacked by a bright blue pillar, transporting him to a cybernetic dimension. He is then promptly attacked by the iconic Decepticons Starscream and Megatron, with Optimus Prime taking the hit for Zeus. The four then engage in battle, Optimus and Zeus vs. Starscream and Megatron, with a remix of the classic Transformers theme in the background.

As it shows, the three Transformers will be available as playable special skins for SMITE, with the Prestige Tracks providing a special cel-shaded look with their original G1 colors and design. Starscream will be available as a skin for Jing Wei, with Megatron being a skin for Ra. The sole representative and leader of the Autobots Optimus Prime will be a skin for Geb. These designs, whether it be the new ones created for SMITE or the classic G1 look is getting some fans excited.

Some fans found it odd that Optimus is the only playable Autobot skin in the game, when other characters like Grimlock or even Bumblebee could be brought in to help balance the new skins. That said, many comments in the trailer of the Battle Pass expressed their surprise in that SMITE would be getting a crossover with Transformers of all things. Many praised the quality of the skins, while others were perplexed at the choice of seeing the two properties together, considering SMITE's main premise.

Some other comments embraced the crossover nature of the game, with one pointing out that the casts of RWBY, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Avatar: The Last Airbender, and Stranger Things can take on some of the game's gods like Thor or the aforementioned Cthulu. This Battle Pass will arrive on November 16.

Smite is free-to-play on PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
