Warriors in Smite serve as melee frontliners: vicious enough to lead the offensive, but tough enough to tank damage. Given the action-oriented nature of Smite, the MOBA’s Warrior Class is reserved for Gods designed to specifically halt the enemy’s approach through empowered offense. Usually specialized in teamfights, Warriors love the heat of battle.

Unlike other MOBAs, Warriors aren’t built solely to capitalize on melee combat. Depending on the God, a Warrior can tank just as well as a Guardian or even provide high-damage output like an Assassin. However, with Smite's ever-expanding roster, just which Warriors make the cut as the strongest in the game?

10 Bellona

Bellona

There’s a reason Bellona remains a mainstay in the game’s main banner, and that’s her simple yet efficient playstyle. Thanks to her kit’s versatility, Warrior Bellona specializes in charging the frontlines to disrupt the enemy’s formation with crowd control, high damage, and effective utility abilities. However, being a jack of all trades means being a master in none, and this reflects in Bellona’s relative lack of ranged targets and dependency on almost always being in combat.

Bellona’s Master of War (Passive) gives her constant protections and speed buffs whenever she’s in the middle of combat. This works well with her combat-geared abilities. Shield Bash (S1) is a forward attack that slows enemies, while Bludgeon (S2) is a spinning attack that boosts damage the more it hits. Meanwhile, Scourge (S3) disarms enemies and disables their basic attacks alongside lifesteal, while Eagle’s Rally (Ultimate) gives Bellona and her allies boosted attacks and protections in an AOE, which stuns and damages enemies.

9 Mulan

Mulan

Mulan is a fighter unparalleled at the time, courtesy of her knowledge in battle strategies and combat acumen. The game reflects this in her balance of offense and defense, making her one of the best solo laners since launch. Mulan shines in the early to mid game, courtesy of her strong sustains and naturally high base attack. However, players need to lie low in the endgame due to her slow progression. Late-game Mulan is more of a support attacker or a secondary tank for the team — perfect against Assassins.

Mulan's Training Arc (Passive) grants her different bonuses depending on the weapon she uses, which grow the more she uses each weapon. She uses a sword with Cross Strike (S1) that boosts attack speed over time, while Spear Thrust (S2) is a slowing attack that gives her partial lifesteal. Meanwhile, Grapple (S3) is a stunning attack with a bow and arrow, and Divine Mastery (Ultimate) is a three-weapon combo that boosts not just her protections, but efficiency in each weapon.

8 Erlang Shen

Erlang Shen

Erlang Shen, the Illustrious Sage, is renowned for his combat prowess and gift for tactics and strategy. While he’s the nephew of the Jade Emperor, Erlang Shen is no pushover. He easily dominates the Jungle courtesy of his straightforward nature and strong early game stats. In the long term, his high versatility and burst potential make him shine in any teamfight. However, despite his flexibility, his core items remain quite predictable. Likewise, his lack of crowd control immunity can render Erlang Shen useless when stunned, which makes him rather useless against the likes of Khepri.

His Howling Celestial Dog (Passive) gives Erlang Shen a boost in attack power, as his dog companion attacks his enemies with him. This works well with his other abilities, as Spot Weakness (S1) gives him an attack boost, while Pin (S1) is a neat stun. Similar to Sun Wukong, Erlang Shen also has 72 Transformations (S3), with each form giving different abilities. Lastly, 9 Turns Blessing (Ultimate) gives Erlang Shen a slight edge with a damage mitigation boost.

7 Achilles

Achilles

Jokes about his heel aside, Achilles is gifted by the gods with impeccable strength and battle ability. In Smite, this is reflected in his strong pressure game and his versatility in choosing either a safer defense build or a hardcore offensive strategy. However, Achilles doesn’t have crowd control abilities, making him vulnerable in the wrong position. Making proper use of his built-in defenses and dodges can spell victory or defeat when using Achilles in a match.

His Gift of the Gods (Passive) lets Achilles choose an armored or unarmored form that grants him either a protection buff or an attack buff. This synergizes well with his skills, with Shield of Achilles (S1) serving as a neat stun, while his Fatal Strike (Ultimate) is a powerful dash attack. He can pair this with Radiant Glory (S2) to boost his protections, while Combat Dodge (S2) offers a neat escape trick in crucial situations.

6 Sun Wukong

Sun Wukong

Monkey King Sun Wukong swoops in to steal the spotlight as one of the best Warrior Gods to keep himself in meta status. Similar to other Warrior Gods, Sun Wukong has more than enough punch to operate as quite the efficient solo laner, boasting great sustains, decent damage, and even crowd control. However, his stats are a bit basic, his ability-reliant nature makes him useless against silences, and he has difficulty escaping tight situations without his Ultimate.

Sun Wukong's Undefeated Body (Passive) boosts his protections starting at half health, incentivizing survival. His Magic Cudgel (S1) is a decent farm-oriented attack, while Master’s Will (S2) is a neat stun that works with his combos. 72 Transformations (S3) gives Wukong access to three forms with a variety of effects, while Somersault Cloud (Ultimate) lets Wukong summon a pet to fight for him while he travels off in a cloud — perfect for relocations.

5 Cu Chulainn

Cu Chulainn

The Hound of Ulster, Cu Chulainn is a noble warrior of Celtic mythology, whose spear is powerful enough to tear through any foe. In Smite, Cu Chulainn boasts the same power as a Warrior God. Unlike other Gods, Cu Chulainn doesn’t use Mana, but rather Rage, allowing him to utilize his abilities more easily. Unlike other Warriors that love going toe-to-toe with a single foe, Cu Chulainn has enough abilities to fight multiple enemies at once. However, his overdependence on Rage makes it difficult to manage resources, as going in blind can become easily fatal.

His Berserk (Passive) gives him additional power and shields, boosting his offensive capabilities. This works great with Barbed Spear/Ground Slam (S1) which is a powerful stun, while Vent Anger (S2) is a damage-over-time to surrounding enemies. Salmon’s Leap/Furious Charge (S3) is a decent leap attack, while Spear of Mortal Pain/War Cry (Ultimate) damages enemies with a variety of debuffs.

4 Vamana

Vamana

As the Fifth Avatar of Vishnu, one would think Vamana is simply a calm and collected individual. However, his child-like exterior hides a teacher in humility, whose lessons have shamed the proudest of rulers and individuals. This status fits him nicely, as his role in the game boasts effective solo farming and laning, with his Ultimate allowing him to dominate teamfights quite easily. However, Vamana does need careful management of lane matchups, as he can falter in the late-game. Players need to manage his buffs carefully to maximize damage output.

Vamana’s emphasis on humbling foes through combat is reflected with Sleeping Giant (Passive), which trades some defense for a boost in power and attack speed. His Clear the Path (S1) is a dash that knocks enemies into the air, while Armored Umbrella (S2) is a wide attack to enemies. His Umbrellarang is a decent slowing ability, while Colossal Fury (Ult) grows Vamana into a hulking giant ready to give his foes a world of hurt, especially those like Cthulhu that also rely on an alternate form.

3 Hercules

Hercules

Everyone knows the story ofHercules and his absurd strength — which he uses in Smite as a powerful bruiser for the Gods. Despite his nature as a frontline attacker, however, one should remember to capitalize Hercules as a support unit. His abilities make him perfect for pressuring foes, as he can easily punish most enemies in front of him. When used properly, Hercules has great solo killing potential. However, this encouragement for direct conflict can make Hercules quite vulnerable in teamfights, as he still needs proper sustains.

Hercules is built for battle specifically due to Strength From Pain (Passive), which boosts his attack power through damage. This works well with his abilities, such as stunning Diving Strike (S1), juggling Earthbreaker (S2), and devastating Excavate (Ultimate). Meanwhile, his Mitigate Wounds (S3) is a decent defense boost to complement his rather dangerous risk-motivated offense.

2 Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh

Gilgamesh, King of Uruk, carries a regality unlike no other — and his status as a Warrior is reflected in his battle prowess. Gilgamesh is a melee Warrior that capitalizes on buffs and crowd control to spearhead the frontlines. In a teamfight, Gilgamesh can quite literally push his enemies, which can be even deadlier when going on solo. However, despite his flexibility, his lack of crowd control defense and early-game Passive utility can make him quite vulnerable in the early stages of a match.

The Epic of Gilgamesh (Passive) is a decent way to secure his core items by fulfilling specific conditions. Likewise, his Sun-Forged Scimitar (S1) guarantees a slow effect during hits. Meanwhile, Drop Kick (S2) is a decent air-knockdown ability, with Hero’s Advance (S3) being a good area dash attack. Lastly, Winds of Shamash (Ultimate) is a slowing AOE that can disrupt teamfights quickly.

1 Amaterasu

Amaterasu

Amaterasu glows as the Shining Light, and she’s remained as bright as ever in the game. A stalwart Warrior, Amaterasu has become a strong part of the meta due to how effective her abilities are. She possesses remarkable utility and control in her dual build, allowing her to do both targeted and area damage with high sustains. However, her weakness in the early game and vulnerability towards crowd control make her a liability when not managed properly, particularly against Assassins.

Amaterasu shines through her abilities. Her Divine Presence (S1) allows her to switch between a healing buff and an aggression buff. This works well with her Illuminating Strike (Passive), which constantly lowers the attack of her opponents. Her Heavenly Reflection (S2) is an effective defense buff with a damaging element, with Glorious Charge (S3) serving as a great dash attack. Lastly, Dazzling Offensive (Ultimate) is a heavy finisher, which can cap off either a solo fight or a team with a powerful combo.

Smite is currently available for the PC, Mac OS, PS4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch.
