Hi-Rez Studios' mythology-themed MOBA SMITE has one of the most diverse casts of characters in the genre. SMITE normally features characters like Cupid, Zeus, Anubis, and even Cthulhu, but the cast has become even more diverse in recent months thanks to various crossover events.

Recent crossovers have features many different properties. Not only have been players been able to get skins for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Avatar: The Last Airbender before, but the game recently launched a crossover event that brought Monstercat skins to SMITE as well. Most crossover events are timed events that release a special battle pass for players to level up and unlock the event's content with.

SMITE's newest crossover event unexpectedly brings Stranger Things cosmetics to the game. The event will bring an all-new battle pass to the MOBA that will feature skins for some of the show's biggest characters. All of the specifics are not known, but players will be able to earn skins for the likes of Eleven, Hopper, the Demogorgon, and the Mind Flayer. Of course, this is not the first time Stranger Things has popped up in a video game, as players can play as a couple of characters as well as the Demogorgon in Dead By Daylight.

The event will also see SMITE's map for its popular Arena mode being redone to match with Stranger Things' Upside Down dimension. It is not clear which of SMITE's various Gods the skins will be for, but there are some that seem like prime candidates for them. Eleven would fit in well as a Scylla skin, as the character is already a child with incredible special abilities. Of course, SMITE has a very large roster of Gods, so what four will be receiving the skins is very much still up to question for fans.

It will be great to see more of the crossover whenever Hi-Rez Studios is ready to share more with players. The crossover is undoubtedly exciting for SMITE and Stranger Things fans alike, and there is a lot of great cosmetics that the team could put out as part of its battle pass. The announcement does come shortly after it was announced that Netflix was going to try getting into video games more seriously, so this may just be the start of crossovers for the streaming service's shows. Thankfully, fans won't have to wait too much longer to jump into the Upside Down in SMITE as the crossover starts on July 13.

SMITE is available now on PC, PlayStation 4, Switch, and Xbox One.
