April Fools' Day is always an interesting time for gaming, as many developers are quick to put their own spin on the pseudo holiday, often delighting and disappointing fans simultaneously. This year was admittedly somewhat lacking in great gaming pranks, but Hi-Rez Studio, the developers of the Multiplayer Online Battle Arena (MOBA) game, SMITE, didn't let the opportunity go to waste.

On April 1st, Hi-Rez's twitter account shared a video announcing a new alleged game, Dream Deity, which it advertised as a SMITE dating Dadventure. Needless to say, what follows is hilarity, and the full video can be seen below.

For those unaware, SMITE takes the classic MOBA gameplay from games like League of Legends and puts a mythical spin on it. Every character in SMITE is a God or Goddess from one of many pantheons, and the game is notorious for having a plethora of cosmetic skin options for its characters. Moreover, there have been numerous meme related skins for certain Gods and Goddesses as well, so when the Dream Deity dating simulator was announced, it was actually quite believable. Of course, the cross-platform fanbase of SMITE saw through the joke immediately, but it was good for some laughs and did bring something more to the table.

There is so much to love about this fake Dream Deities trailer, such as the small mention at the end that the game would be available exclusively on OUYA, a console which was discontinued in 2015, but the best part has got to be the designs of the Gods. It's no wonder, then, that many fans are calling for Hi-Rez to actually make these into skins for the featured Gods. At the moment, these designs are not actual skins, but the Dream Deities sale is bringing players skins for certain Gods at an extremely discounted rate until Sunday.

Harmless and fun April Fools' Day pranks like these help to lighten the mood in an otherwise difficult time, and coming from a studio like Hi-Rez Studios, fans could really expect to see more come from this than was originally intended. This is a game that literally has a Bob Ross skin for one of its characters, so dating simulator-esque getups for other Gods is not out of the question by any means. Until then, though, fans should be sure to take advantage of the Dream Deities sale going on until Sunday.
