With the announcement that the second Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Fighters Pass will be its last, it looks like only six more DLC characters will be coming to the popular fighting game. Thanks to a poll from the Japanese publication Inside Games, fans now have a good indication which characters are the most popular.

According to the poll, the most requested character for Super Smash Brothers Ultimate is Sora from the Kingdom Hearts series. Sora got a whopping 290 votes, with the second most voted for character getting only 91. The Kingdom Hearts games have long been popular, especially in Japan, and players have been calling for Sora's inclusion in the Smash series since Super Smash Brothers Brawl., so it's unsurprising that he took the top spot in this poll.

After Sora comes another regular on the most requested Smash DLC characters list: Dante, the hero of the Devil May Cry games. Players have long been calling for the inclusion of the white-haired pistol-wielding character in Ultimate. Now that a Devil May Cry game is on the switch, Dante's seems a bit more likely, and clearly fans are excited at the prospect.

After that, the poll gets a little bit whacky. In third place comes Monster Hunter from the Monster Hunter games, followed by Rex from Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and then 74 and 2B from NieR: Automata. Moving down the list is Crash, Waddle Dee, Sephiroth, Arle (Puyo Puyo), Steve (Minecraft), Saber (Fate), and Goku, among others. While the inclusion of some of these characters may seem unlikely, considering that the first DLC character was Piranha Plant, no character should be counted out.

It's worth noting that this is a Japanese poll, and as a result, it is skewed towards Japanese taste. This is most likely why characters who are very popular in the west are underrepresented. For example, while many American players long for Master Chief, he doesn't even show up in this poll.

While DLC has kept Super Smash Bros. Ultimate fresh, the characters have not arrived without controversy. The characters are sometimes overpowered upon release, like Byleth's guaranteed kill against donkey kong. But still, most players are looking forward to the next Fighter's Pass and are eagerly awaiting the newest characters to grace Smash Ultimate's roster.
