After the release of the God of War Collection earlier this year, PlayStation 3 owners began to revel in the possibilities that future High Definition collections may bring. Though there were rumors of a Team Ico Collection, it was soon announced that the next series to see a re-release on PS3 would be the Sly Cooper series with The Sly Collection.

Since then however, things have been relatively quiet on the news front. "When will it be coming?" "How much will it cost?" "Does this mean Sly Cooper 4 is in the works?" Thanks to the PlayStation Blog, we can answer two out of three. Which, to be fair, isn't that bad.

The Sly Collection will be sneaking into stores this Fall for the fantastic price of just $39.99. So far, similar to the God of War Collection, right? Well, almost. Whereas the God of War Collection only included two games from the trilogy (due to the fact that only two games in the God of War series were actually released on the PlayStation 2), The Sly Collection will include the entire trilogy of Sly Cooper games: Sly Cooper and the Thievius Raccoonus, Sly 2: Band of Thieves and Sly 3: Honor Among Thieves.

Now comes the most exciting news in this article, in my opinion. While we knew that The Sly Collection would be the first in a new 'HD Classics' line, we could only imagine how it would look. Sure, the God of War Collection was remastered incredibly well, but Sly Cooper's art style was particularly beautiful back on the PS2, and we could only hope that the distinctive visuals would receive a faithful remastering. As you can see from the images below, it looks just as gorgeous as ever.

If that didn't satiate your desires, we've got more screens over the page to sort you out.

Developer Sanzaru Games has also confirmed Move-specific minigames and 3D support for The Sly Collection (although 3D will only work with Sly 3), bringing the series right up-to-date with all the current technology. And, yes, there will be trophy support too.

Personally, I'm excited by this news. The only knowledge I have of Sucker Punch Production's work is inFAMOUS and while I'm excited about the upcoming inFAMOUS 2, I'm probably more excited to see where it all began with Sly Cooper.

So what do you think of The Sly Collection? Are you pleased that it's going to be just $39.99? What do you think of the newly released screenshots? Let us know in the comments below.

More screens from The Sly Collection!

As I've already mentioned, I've never had the opportunity to play any of the Sly Cooper games and looking at these screenshots I'm kicking myself. While the art style is not quite on the same level of beauty as Zelda: Skyward Sword in my opinion, these screens are utterly stunning, and I can't wait to see it running in HD later this year.

We've also heard news that The Sly Collection will be playable at the ongoing San Diego Comic-Con, so check back for more news and previews as they come in. Also, be sure to comment below and let us know what you think of the Sly Collection screens!
