Fans of farming simulations and exploration games will enjoy Slime Rancher 2. Farming slimes on Rainbow Island is a full-time job, but there are upgrades and machines players can get to make things easier such as the Auto-Feeder.

While traversing the colorful scenes, there will be plenty of slimes and resources to gather and take back to the Conservatory, Beatrix's home base. Slimes are notoriously hungry creatures that want to be fed often. The Auto-Feeder takes matters into its own hands, so players can spend more time traveling around the island and less time worrying about their slimes.

How To Get The Auto-Feeder

Getting the Auto-Feeder will require some work from ranchers, but it is well worth the effort whenever there are lots of slimes to take care of in one place. Hungry slimes are more likely to escape their enclosures, and unruly slimes can become troublesome.

If they fuse with too many slimes, they will become cannibalistic and deadly to all the surrounding slimes, effectively clearing an entire ranch. Unlike other machines in the game, players don't need to find blueprints for the Auto-Feeder, and it's available almost immediately. Let's go over everything players need to get the Auto-Feeder.

Earning Plorts

Slime Rancher 2 Plort Market

The Auto-Feeder is not free, and ranchers will need to spend plorts before they can use it. In Slime Rancher 2, slimes deposit plorts whenever they are fed. They look like diamonds, and their colors reflect whichever slime they came from.

These can then be sold at the Plort Market in the Conservatory for Newbucks. The Plort Market fluctuates daily, so keeping an eye on the prices can help maximize profit. The rarer the slime, the more their plorts are worth. While they typically drop one plort per meal, they will drop two if given their favorite food. Plorts must be farmed in the wild until players earn enough to build corrals.

Build A Corral

A corral is where slimes are kept in the Conservatory. There are plots spread all around the Conservatory, and ranchers can build helpful things like corrals, storage facilities, ponds, and incinerators.

The basic corral cost 250 Newbucks, but they have a few upgrades available after being built, such as High Walls, Air Nets, and of course, the Auto-Feeder. Ranchers can get the Auto-Feeder for 500 Newbucks, which sits on the corner of the corral.

Using The Auto-Feeder

The Auto-Feeder is particularly useful when players have many slimes or dangerous slimes. For example, the Rock and Crystal slimes cause physical damage to players when they make contact so farming their plorts is risky business.

That's when the Auto-Feeder comes into play. To use it, shoot a food item into the porthole. It then will release a small amount of food at regular intervals to keep the slimes full and happy.

Slime Rancher 2 is available in Early Access on PC and Xbox Series X/S.
