The first-person life simulation series Slime Rancher starring cute collectible slimes captured attention with a surprise at the E3 conference by Xbox and Bethesda. Slime Rancher 2 is coming to Steam, Xbox, and Epic Games Store in 2022, featuring rainbow landscapes and a world ready for exploring, with it available on Xbox Game Pass launch day for subscribers.

The first Slime Rancher game started out in early access in January 2016, and was released in full on August 1st, 2017 on PC, Mac OS, Linux, Xbox One and PlayStation 4. The colorful game stole hearts easily with the bouncy slime creatures players could catch, becoming a cult classic. Players enjoyed collecting and feeding slimes, holding pool parties with them while building personal farms, wondering for years what else the planet of Far, Far Range had to offer, including the mystery of the Slime Sea.

The trailer opened up with cheerful music, panning over the Slime Sea with a bright sky; showing grass and trees tinted colorfully with a rainbow shine, before cutting to the vacpack on the ground and a recognizable red slime appearing next to it with a smile. The trailer also shows off some gameplay before ending with the release date and its availability on Xbox, Steam and the Epic Games Store, but hiding the new fact that official releases for the game have hinted that players may get to explore the Slime Sea in Slime Rancher 2.

The new slimes shown for the first-person simulation game had a variety of different shapes and sizes, such as slimes based on butterflies, rabbits, and bats. The Far Far Range has a few more locations to explore looking to be hidden temples and abandoned structures such as a lost coliseum. One item is seen for a brief moment that seems to be something players can feed to slimes to make them grow larger instantly.

Not much is known about the sequel just yet, but descriptions say that Beatrix LeBeau is ready for an adventure back at the Far Far Range and that players need to be ready to swim across the Slime Sea, leaving the potential for Slime Rancher 2 to explore the world in ways the older early access title didn't. This could include finally seeing what the parts of the Far, Far Range previously not understood have to offer.

Slime Rancher 2 is releasing on Steam, Xbox and Epic Games Store in 2022, with it available on Xbox Game Pass on launch day.
